To help us do this work, we are looking for an experienced sourcer to manage the sourcing and attraction of candidates for specialized positions at The New York Times. In the role, you will be an expert on the candidate market for our Engineering function, with an emphasis on diverse candidate slates and pipelines. You will get the opportunity to help grow these teams and help them become more diverse at all levels. You will conduct research, work with candidates, develop talent pipelines, and manage a candidate database.

What you'll do:
  • Work with hiring managers and recruiters to determine essential position requirements
  • At all times, infuse your work with an eye toward identifying unique and diverse talent for all areas of the company
  • Identify and engage potential candidates
  • Coach and train new and current team members on candidate sourcing
  • Craft and send compelling recruitment emails
  • Constantly interact with potential candidates on professional networks and social media
  • Contact industry partners for candidate referrals
  • Conduct research-based sourcing, getting to know the current makeup of NYT teams and our hiring needs


What you have:
  • 3+ years of talent sourcing, ideally for technical or executive roles
  • Experience with a team first approach where you know good ideas can come from anyone
  • Keen knowledge of current, trending, and new sourcing tools and platforms
  • The ability to search without tools, including with techniques like open-source web search, x-ray search, pdf search, and more
  • Good understanding of boolean logic
