Day - 10 Hour (United States of America)



The optometrist will perform clinical services at the Cisco Life Connections Health Center. The optometrist shall be trained and experienced in providing manifest refraction, cycloplegic RFY, manual keratometry, corneal topography, low vision service, optical dispensary and contact lens fitting, including
teaching residents and medical students these procedures. The optometrist shall be trained and experienced in the comprehensive eye exam. Candidates should have outstanding clinical training, be experienced in examining and treating children.

Essential Functions

and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings. Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).

  • Conduct a comprehensive eye exam. This shall include: visual acuity testing, contrast sensitivity testing, color vision testing, and related areas, external examination, slit lamp biomicroscopy of the cornea and anterior segment, applanation and other tonometric techniques, pupillary testing, visual field testing, extraocular motility examination and dilated fundoscopy.
  • Performs administrative functions such as the ordering of medications, clinic supplies and chart forms.
  • Performs the following procedures: manifest refraction, cycloplegic refraction, manual keratometry, corneal topography, contact lens fitting.
  • Responsible for certain aspects of the sub-specialty preoperative evaluation and postoperative care under the medical direction of the supervising ophthalmologist and department chairman.
  • Take medical history including: determination of chief complaint, review of systems, past and current medical problems including previous surgery, use of medication, allergies.
  • Use topical eye medications for the purpose of examining the eyes and diagnosing eye diseases and problems. Referring patients to ophthalmologist when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
License/Certification​: Optometrist (OPT)

  • Skill: Using slit lamp for Intraocular pressure measurement
  • Skill: Using transluminator
