Director of Contract Operations

Job Description
BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a Fortune 500 Company, is looking to hire a Director of Contract Operations to lead develop best practices in several areas of the Contracts function and oversee a core business process in support of our Platforms & Services Sector Headquarters in Fairfax, VA. This includes collaborating with cross functional executives and other senior leaders within the Contracts function across the Inc. enterprise in the US and internationally.

Manages and seeks opportunities for continuous improvement of the bid approval process at the Platforms & Services Headquarters level. Reviews, edits and drafts RBA packs and Executive level Whitepapers for corporate and parent company briefings. Make informed decisions and validations to ensure bids are briefed in accordance with the established Delegation of Authority. Coordinates review materials and scheduling for RBA reviews with Inc. (Corporate level) personnel. Manages and oversees the development and creation of a Contracts Repository and database for the Sector while supervising the activity of entry to mid-level contract professionals in routine to complex data calls for corporate and regulatory reporting. Manages the Teaming Agreement Process for the Sector to ensure collaboration across adjacent sectors to ensure no organizational conflicts exist.

Working to excellent knowledge of corporate policies and procedures, coupled with ability to identify required improvement to established policies and to communicate implementation procedures to others. Good presentation, leadership and management skills. Use of independent judgment and creativity applied to resolution of contract issues. Excellent organizational agility and business acumen skills. Emerging ability to excel in upper level management environment. Attention to detail.

Contract subordinates, business unit Contracting teams, vice presidents and sector and Inc. senior staff personnel.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor Degree (required) and 10+ year's relevant defense industry experience to include:

General understanding of the business case and an appreciation of financial/analytical issues and profit and loss implications

Demonstrate ability for process improvement

Contract management experience on complex programs

Proven ability to understand, interpret & improve a company's policies and procedures

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Master's Degree

Lean Six Sigma Certification or equivalent experience
