Our Plant location in Tipp City OH currently has an opportunity for a Manager

Material Control is responsible for acting as a liaison between Plant Operations, Division Production Planning, Purchasing, Receiving and Shipping and manages the plant's entire S&OP process, which feeds the Divisional S&OP.Effective management of production scheduling, inventory control, purchasing, receiving and line support, raw material warehousing, and the finished goods shipping and storage operations are keys to efficient utilization of the plant's resources.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading Material Control staff across a 24x7 operation.Conducts performance reviews; develops growth plans; implements and supports employee-related policies, procedures and programs.

Responsible for ensuring compliance to GMP's and OSHA's regulatory requirements to assure quality products while setting up systems to prevent any violations of these requirements and guidelines.

Directly responsible for the Material Control budget and assists in the development and achievement of the Freight and Distribution budget and in the effective management of Receiving activities and budgets.

Effectively develop and manage the raw material monthly inventory levels to meet production demand while minimizing capital investment, DOH and obsolescence without incurring opportunity cost.

Source and manage the development, issuance and processing of all plant commodity purchase orders while providing expertise in administering all corporate and Division purchasing policies.Provide order management for total raw material purchases.

Provide global customer service through accurate order processing, customization and timely delivery of finished products and services to Abbott warehouses and affiliates.

Monitor and minimize the potential loss of sales due to warehouse back-orders.

Provide expertise and interface with regulatory agencies, especially US Customs in interpretation of complex import/export issues. Provide leadership in establishing and managing the Division Foreign Trade Zones.

Provide purchasing, receiving and shipping support to all plant departments.

Maintain the inventory and order entry computer systems which are an integral part of the distribution center operations. Systems include Cambar, AMAPS, MITS and SAP. The Material Control Department must also possess the knowledge and ability to act as the site's SMEs for these systems.

The Materials Manager should have a thorough knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and demonstrate a high ability to work with and through other people to coordinate and direct the activities of the department.

Accountability / Scope/Budget:

Accountable for the expense, payroll, and capital budgets total of $3.5MM - $5.1MM. Responsible for developing a $175MM - $278MM production plan.

Assist in the effective management of transportation activities (where applicable) and associated budget responsibilities of $1.5MM. Effectively manage the raw material monthly inventory budget of over $2MM - $17MM to meet production demand while minimizing capital investment without incurring opportunity cost.



Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Logistics, or Supply Chain.


Master's Degree. APICS Certification .


Minimum of 8 years of experience. 5 years' experience in Inventory Control or Management, 3 years' experience in Warehouse Management and/or Supervision, 3 years' experience in Inventory Accounting and 3 years' experience in Production Management. (not necessarily the sum of the above).
