Project Leader - Global Supplier Quality Assurance

Our location in Columbus OH (Easton Square) currently has an opportunity for a Project Leader - Global Supplier Quality Assurance.

The primary function of the Global Supplier Quality Assurance (GSQA) group is to assure a high-quality supply of incoming materials through evaluation and development of Abbott Nutrition suppliers worldwide.GSQA is responsible for working and communicating with suppliers as part of an ongoing supply management process. GSQA supports systems such as: supplier qualification, supplier development, supplier monitoring, and supplier event management. In addition, GSQA supports the plant quality assurance, operations and purchasing groups globally to ensure that proper incoming material documentation involving CAPA, testing/release, acceptance plans and specifications are compliant to Corporate and regulatory requirements.


The GSQA Project Leader will exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills and will manage multiple projects and supplier responsibilities, including:
  • Provide support to manufacturing plants by resolving incoming material issues in a timely manner
  • Manage the CAPA system for incoming materials
  • Monitor suppliers on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis by evaluating exception report data and reporting information to appropriate areas of the business (i.e. Purchasing and Operations), as well as the suppliers
  • Support resolution and approval of exception reports within the plants
  • Lead supplier event management to resolve and troubleshoot supplier processing or material issues
  • Responsible for supplier qualification of new and existing suppliers to achieve sustainable supply with no events
  • Utilize supplier development tools to assess, create action plans, and work with suppliers and AN plants to improve performance
  • Responsible for maintaining/controlling the approved supplier status of suppliers
  • Perform risk assessments of supplier performance/tiered status to develop the annual audit schedule, including relevant documentation to support changes
  • Perform supplier audits including qualification, supplier excellence, and for-cause audits
  • Initiate, write and support issuance of deviations to assist the plants in utilizing materials
  • Maintain relevant documentation such as GSQA policies, procedures, specifications, and acceptance programs and assure these documents are current and compliant to internal policies and regulations
  • Oversee the function of the qualification and certification programs to assure that suppliers comply to policies and any risks to the company are minimized
  • Assure that proposed changes made to supplier processes are approved and compliant to specifications, making changes when necessary


  • Bachelor's Degree in physical or life science, engineering or business, or a related degree
  • 5 years or more of experience in supplier quality assurance programs or related experience in operations, purchasing, or quality assurance
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (production, logistics, and engineering) and quality assurance principles
  • Technical understanding of different technologies, product quality systems and supplier programs and be able to provide consultation and recommendations to help suppliers improve their performance

  • Able to work independently to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Able to successfully interact and communicate with internal and external cross functional teams and leadership
  • Able to manage several activities / projects at once, to organize / prioritize work, to meet deadlines and to prepare plans and reports
