Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)

A Brief Overview
The Pulmonary Function Technologist performs all diagnostic procedures in the Pulmonary Function Laboratory and performs all calibration and quality assurance procedures. He or she performs complex procedures independently and acts as a clinical resource to physicians and others in testing and in research procedures and techniques. He/she assists in scheduling patients, making patient appointments, and processing patient data.

What you will do
  • Assists physicians with patient care issues
  • Determine study eligibility for potential participants in conjunction with Clinical investigator.
  • Performs daily calibration of patient care testing equipment
  • Performs pulmonary function testing
  • Performs standard subject testing and quality assurance on all testing devices.

Education Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university

Experience Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, conflict resolution, consulting and advising as well as prepare clear, comprehensive written and oral reports and materials
  • Ability to conduct analysis and formulate conclusions
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes
  • Knowledge of principles of health, hospital and clinic organization and administration
  • Knowledge of pulmonary function testing and competence in the development and execution of pulmonary function protocols.
  • Knowledge of pulmonary physiological tests and blood gas analyses to provide data which is used in the medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of ambulatory and in-patients throughout the hospital.
  • Knowledge of the indications, contraindications, and hazards of continuous long-term or short term mechanical ventilation, various respiratory therapy techniques, and anatomy, physiology and pathology related to the respiratory system required

Licenses and Certifications
  • RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitione in CA or
  • CPFT
