About This Role

The Senior Manager Maintenance position is responsible for managing the maintenance business and administration functions for the Biogen Pharma site at 900 Davis Drive. This includes process maintenance, utility operations, and CMMS/MRO Parts. The site includes a Parental Filling building, a main building that includes offices, Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) manufacturing, Oligonucleotide Synthesis Manufacturing (OSM) manufacturing, laboratory facilities, warehouse, and support buildings and equipment. The position will plan and coordinate daily operations to meet preventive maintenance schedules and strategies of all utilities and process equipment in full compliance with Quality, Safety and cGMP standards and ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. This includes the management and leadership of direct staff and outsourced partnerships with contract firms. This includes the annual budget responsibility and contractual oversight of ~$8M. The position will be responsible for managing the development of departmental workflows, workload management, guidance instructions or procedures and general technical support to Pharma manufacturing and lab operations.

  • Management of supervisory staff that provides oversight to the maintenance, utilities, and CMMS administration groups.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and execution of the Maintenance business strategy.
  • Establishes procedures and programs to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable maintenance operations including safety, finance, and cGMP compliance.
  • Ensures and maintains strong safety record across department and strategic contract partners.
  • Represents site on audits and inspections by regulatory agencies.
  • Manage / control comprehensive plans of support / change to the maintenance management systems.
  • Responsible for CMMS database asset and MRO spare parts inventory.
  • Recommend and implement changes to systems, processes, and maintenance to improve reliability, optimize labor utilization, cost savings and safety enhancements.
  • Oversee / support capital construction projects and equipment installations for the Facility’s building and utilities systems.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or other regulated health care industries.
  • Experience in developing maintenance management programs for a major cGMP site.
  • Experience dealing with contracting services for large scale campus commercial and MFG settings.
  • Project experience for large production sites.
  • Demonstrated management and track record in contractor and partner safety metrics and contract management.
  • Experience coaching, developing, and managing a staff of professional employees as well as contractors.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in campus utility infrastructure from a design and maintenance perspective.
  • Skilled presenter and speaker in executive settings.
  • Advanced negotiation skills required/Contract management experience (multi-million).
  • Expertise in implementing lean six sigma, continues improvements and best practices culture.
