About the Job
Texas Instruments (TI) is currently looking for an experienced Safety and Health Specialist with a strong electrical and chem/gas background for the ESH Compliance Support Team. If you have a passion for developing leading edge safety protocols, helping to grow and mentor others, and a strong knowledge of health and safety requirements coupled with an interest in contributing directly to the bottom line of a multi-billion-dollar organization, this may be the position for you!

Responsibilities include:
  • Develop and maintain TI safety standards;
  • Provide both on-site and remote support for TI sites worldwide as needed including performing incident investigations, hazard assessments, standards interpretations, design reviews, developing appropriate action plans associated with these activities, and support for global ESH initiatives;
  • Mentor and develop other ESH professionals, as well as create and present training on ESH topics;
  • Develop, maintain and present electrical safety training;
  • Assist TI electrical labs with evaluation of specific workstation configurations, implementation of safety protocols, development of innovative interlock and hazard control schemes, and performance of periodic inductive/capacitive leak testing;
  • Interpret a broad spectrum of issues and their associated regulations and standards and then formulate plans and guidelines to implement corrective/preventive actions.

T he candidate must be able to:
    • Use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data;
    • Assess and analyze safety and health-related risks associated with semiconductor manufacturing, assembly/test, laboratory operations, as well as facilities tasks;
    • Apply knowledge of OSHA regulations, applicable fire and building codes, and electrical standards to apply cost-effective and practical compliance solutions;
    • Evaluate TI business needs and develop compliance standards and implementation guidance based on regulations and best-known methods;
    • Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, both in writing and verbally;
    • Read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures;
    • Potentially represent TI on various industry associations, working groups and committees;
    • Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, impartiality and professionalism.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field;
  • 5-7 years experience in related field (Safety/Industrial Hygiene/Regulatory);

The candidate must have strong knowledge of:
  • 29 CFR 1900-series standards (OSHA);
  • National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E;
  • National Electrical Codes (NFPA70, NFPA70E and NFPA 70B);
  • Consensus standards such as ANSI Z136.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Safety Professional;
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician;
  • Semiconductor factory process and equipment experience, including SEMI S2/S8, NFPA Protection of Semiconductor Fabrication Facilities (NFPA318), or other high-volume manufacturing experience.;
  • Toxic Gas Ordinance experience.
