Summary of Job Duties:

The Cooperative Extension Service Program Assistant works for an assigned county Extension program under the supervision of a county agent in the Expanded Food & Nutrition Program (EFNEP).

Communicates the benefits and goals of the EFNEP to clientele.
Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
Submits accurate reports on time.
Listens to feedback and acts to improve.
Relates well to participants needs.

Program Delivery
Understands and communicates the purpose of the program to participants.
Uses EFNEP approved curricula and supporting materials to teach lessons to participants.
Exhibits sufficient knowledge of subject matter.
Relates well to participants needs.
Shows sensitivity to individual needs based on culture, race, age, and gender.
Establishes and maintains respectful and cooperative working relationships with other agencies and organizations.
Conducts other EFNEP duties as assigned

Program Evaluation and Impacts
Understands the importance of program evaluation including knowledge gain and behavior change.
Assists with program evaluations and impacts.
Keeps supervisor and program partners informed about program progress and impact.

Progress with Adult Participants
(Unsatisfactory: less than 72 Graduates or more than 20% ineligible, Needs Improvement: 72-89 Graduates or 20% to 11% ineligible), Satisfactory: 90 Graduates with no more than 10% ineligible, Above Average: 91 to 100 Graduates with no more than 10% ineligible, Exceeds Standards: 101 to 110 Graduates with no more than 10% ineligible.
• Results: Graduates 90 participants annually with no more than 10% ineligible. Documented reports will be used to measure standard.
• Works collaboratively with Extension Staff to transition graduates into other UACES programs.

(An ineligible is someone without children or does not meet the income requirements.)
(Special permission needed from LRSO EFNEP Management to exceed 110 Graduates.)

Progress with Youth Participants

(Unsatisfactory: less than 160 Graduates, Needs Improvement: 160-199 Graduates), Satisfactory: 200 Graduates, Above Average: 201-220 Graduates, Exceeds Standards: 220 to 240 Graduates.
• 200 youth are graduated annually. Documented reports will be used to measure standard.
• Works collaboratively with Extension staff to transition youth into the 4-H Youth Development program annually.
(Special permission needed from EFNEP LRSO Management to exceed 240 Graduates)

Follows attendance and leave policies.
Practices emotional control.
Exhibits professional behavior and appearance.
Consistently follows instructions and asks for clarification if needed.
Consistently keeps records accurate and information confidential.

Receptive to supervision suggestions and constructive criticism.
Shares information, expertise, and resources with co-workers.
Listens to and respects the ideas of others.
Works with supervisor and co-workers for the benefit of the total EFNEP.


Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must agree to comply with the Youth Protection policy, including authorized release of relevant Arkansas Child Abuse & Neglect Central Registry records. Ability to work without close supervision is required. Transportation for use on the job with liability insurance in effect is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to conduct programs & work with all clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, marital or veteran status, or any other legally protected status. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally & in writing. Ability to keep accurate records & submit timely reports of activities. Ability to respond positively to supervisor direction. Ability to work without close daily supervision.
