AVP, Senior Principal Cloud Engineer

The Role : The AVP, Sr. Principal Cloud Engineer will provide leadership and guidance to engineering team on Cloud technology standards, best practices, and implementation patterns. This role will set technology strategies across IT ecosystems in alignment with business outcomes and industry trends.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and cultivate strong customer relationships at all levels, with special emphasis on architects and executive level IT leaders
  • Articulate industry trends and act as a technical/trusted advisor across enterprise business units, IT and partners
  • Lead the infrastructure design and planning for enterprise class, large, complex, cross domain technology projects globally
  • Develop, influence, and evangelize emerging technology trends to drive innovation, support business transformation and evolve culture
  • Influence and drive technology selection process across enterprise IT capabilities, including, vendor/solution evaluation, Proof of Concepts, pilots, and support developing of the business cases
  • Create or tailor infrastructure reference architectures, design documentation, hardware/software bill of materials (BoMs) and other design or project artifacts.
  • Work with the business and other non-technical resources to provide financial guidance and forecasting based on technical requirements
  • Create logical infrastructure designs for complex projects that span the multiple infrastructure technologies and will work closely with implementation teams, project managers and stakeholders

Candidate Qualifications:

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
  • 10+ years IT infrastructure across data centers and public cloud experience
  • 7+ years infrastructure solution design experience especially in large distributed environments involving n tier architecture infrastructures, ITIL processes, service delivery and defining strategy
  • 5+ years of experience of developing technology business cases with financial assessments, value drivers and execution capabilities
  • Experience designing, planning, and deploying application ecosystems of capabilities across data center/cloud infrastructure in support of large scale, custom developed applications.
  • 5+ years of in-depth exposure to at least three of the following:
    • Public cloud (Azure, Google)
    • Familiarity with IaaS, PaaS and SaaS constructs across relevant technology domains
    • Cloud and Data Center security & application services (proxies, SSO, AuthN/Z, AD, LDAP, DNS)
    • Advanced networking (SDN, Firewalls, Network Security, Global/Load Balancing)
    • Hybrid Cloud and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Network, Automation & Orchestration, VCF, VXRAIL)
    • API, Automation, DevOps, IAC (Terraform, AzDo, ARM, APIM, YAML/JSON/Python)
    • Platform services - Web/Middleware/DB, Container and Micro Services solutions (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, GKE, Service Mesh, monitoring)
    • Comprehensive solution design skills across all elements of Data Center and Public Cloud infrastructure aligning to application characteristics
  • 5+ years team leadership, supervisory or other management experience
  • Ability to influence and drive technology innovations, execution and adoption at an enterprise level, globally.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience; Advanced degree preferred
