The Senior AP Specialist position is an integral part of the accounting team with responsibilities for accurate, timely and correct coding and completeness of accounts payable invoices This position will perform a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions in accordance with established procedures in the accounts payable function. The Senior AP Specialist will process complex vendors and processes.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Inputs invoices and uploads complex spreadsheets into the accounting system
  • As assigned, reconciles and documents vendor accounts which include interacting with the vendor representation
  • Works with business leaders to identify correct cost center allocations and ensure invoices are in line with business
  • Coordinates new vendor onboarding
  • Cross-trains on all key responsibilities across assigned accounts payable functions
  • Research and trouble shoots AP questions or issues
  • Adheres to AP procedures and policies and acts as a resource for AP team members
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3+ years of accounting and/or finance related experience
  • Experience in account reconciliations
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Healthcare finance experience
  • Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Working knowledge of Concur Invoice
  • Working knowledge of People Soft Financial
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Highly organized and multi-task-oriented person who can work independently
  • Ability to communicate with business contacts and co-workers in a courteous and professional manner even in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
