Overview

  • The Space and Interiors Specialist will be responsible for supporting a wide variety of functions within the Security and Installation Operations organization at NGA Campus East (NCE). Activities may include managing repair, renewal, renovation and/or upgrade projects to maintain and/or improve spaces at NCE; supporting the development and implementation of interior design recommendations and solutions that are consistent with NCE standards and customer needs; advise and assist with the strategic planning, and space management of NCE spaces; and support activities related to the implementation, utilization and upgrade of the ARCHIBUS Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS). This role affords the opportunity to actively participate on integrated teams and potentially lead multiple tasks, projects, or teams.

Responsibilities

  • The Space and Interiors Specialist shall assist in the management of interior spaces for NCE across a wide variety of roles that are driven by both immediate or long-term requirements. Representative duties include supporting strategic space planning efforts to maximize the appeal and utility of NCE spaces; provide oversight of specific projects from concept through close-out to include meeting with customers for development of design solutions and statements of work, coordination of cost estimates (IT, architectural finishes and furnishings, security, construction and sustainment), creation of formal project documents to be used as part of the NGA Interior and Space Board (NISB) approval process, project execution (coordination of work plans, Technical Exchange Meetings (TEM), project walks, punch list reviews, etc.), delivery of completed projects to customers to include transition of operations and maintenance requirements for sustainment to NCE's Site Managers; and supporting efforts related to enhance utilization and upgrade the NGA ARCHIBUS IWMS.
  • Duties include:
  • Perform technical reviews of plans, studies and designs, and ensure compliance with prescribed policies and consistency with NGA's Strategic Facilities Plan.
  • Assist with updating project tracking documents to be briefed to Senior Leadership.
  • Coordinate, support, and participate in the weekly project meetings with stakeholders.
  • Plan, execute, and close renovation or interior design projects that meet or exceed customer objectives.
  • Create clear and attainable project plans and objectives, build project requirements, and manage constraints of cost, time, scope, and quality.
  • Work closely with project stakeholders to manage project risk, project schedule and project budget, and resolve project conflicts.
  • Advise on planning, design, reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, buildings, and facilities.
  • Assist the government in establishing space and interiors goal and objectives, mission and vision statements, policy or requirements statements and documents, or operating concepts. Support studies and assessments, and gather information to synthesize functional needs.
  • Complete strategic space utilization surveys, assessments and audits to include determination of facility occupancy and seat availability and completion of trend analyses to determine efficiencies in space utilization.
  • Develop, execute, track, report, and maintain strategic space plans through completion.
  • Support development of Agency Master Plans and Strategic Facilities Plans.
  • Support meetings and conferences as directed by SIOI leadership.
  • Reconcile and validate project information in ARCHIBUS
  • Assist with efforts to upgrade the ARCHIBUS IWMS application and manage project information within the database.

Qualifications

  • Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience within related field
  • Required Experience:
    • Minimum: 11-14 years of relevant experience
    • Experience working in program or small to medium project management.
    • Experience working on cross- functional teams.
    • Experience with working in a distinct functional or cross-functional business area.
    • Experience may be broad-based crossing multiple markets (i.e., government, industry) and may also include relevant/associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices.
    • Experience with using the ARCHIBUS IWMS (or other similar Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or real property management software).
  • Desired Experience:
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
    • Previous experience with the Intelligence Community (IC) and/or Department of Defense (DoD).
    • Experience leading or working with teams.
    • Experience understanding of Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE).
  • Skills & Technology Used:
    • In- depth expertise in such fields as: engineering and technology; planning; facilities; interior design; business; and management.
    • Comprehensive computer knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office programs.
    • Additional skills include the following: briefing skills, project management, organizational skills, and communication skills.
