Ready to put your inspection skills to work with departments and teams that change the fabric of our community? Do you have a great attention to detail? Put your inspection expertise to work on complex projects. Parsons is now hiring a Senior Inspector for our rapidly expanding team.

In this role, you will perform the most difficult and complex inspection tasks, including assessing adherence to quality control procedures and recommending solutions to specific construction problems. Inspects various facets of work on the construction site and performs continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, specifications, and design documents. Interprets construction work to ensure compliance with contract drawings and specifications. Inspection activities are usually concentrated in one or more of the following areas: mechanical, electrical, civil, or wastewater. You may frequently serve in the capacity of Lead Inspector. Willingness to travel and/or to relocate to field sites is expected. Parsons' extensive experience combined with your attention to detail and skill with financial reconciliations, including analysis of accounts receivable and unbilled aging reports, and analysis of reserves. At this level, the Inspectors document nonconformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution.


Conducts tests to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract documents. The nature of the mechanical work may include any of the following structures and significant pieces of process and/or mechanical equipment:

Influent Screens: Electrically operated slide gates, multi rake climbing bar screens with screenings sluice, bio trickling foul air collection and treatment system, screenings compactors.

Raw Sewage Pump Station: Electrically operated slide gates, large vertical turbine pumps (50+ MGD), flowmeters, submersible pumps.

Grit Basins: Electrically operated slide gates, Conical Tray Grit Removal Units, Conical Grit classifier/washers, grit slurry centrifugal pumps.

Electrical Building: Battery systems, air handling equipment.

Inspects electrical installations to ensure proper grounding, circuit integrity, and adherence to statutory and customer regulations.
Provides general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
Prepares reports (such as Daily Inspection Reports, portions of Monthly Progress Report) and maintains required reports of daily construction activities.

Prepares job-related correspondence and conducts contract/client meetings.

Recommends job safety practices and drafts safety reports.
Prepares quality control reports and recommends changes to procedures.
Reviews and approves (if necessary) monthly contractor pay estimates.

Reviews change orders. This position aims to plan and organize the activities of a medium-sized team, apply accepted standardization of materials and supplies and construction technology, and demonstrate knowledge of all field disciplines.

Informs senior resident engineer of specific problems and completion schedules.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Specific mechanical and electrical inspector experience preferred.

Associate's degree in a technical discipline or construction related field and 10+ years of related experience on heavy construction projects, or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience, is required.
Formal certification from an independent organization, depending on type of inspection assignment.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction related processes related to area of assignment.
Have the potential to perform in a lead capacity.
