Rotating - 12 Hour (United States of America)

A Brief Overview
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders. Defined duties are performed in adult patient populations. Perform all essential functions required of a Respiratory Care Practitioner level II.

What you will do
  • Assist with student and department clinical skills labs/competency renewals
  • Assist with the clinical implementation of new equipment and/or procedures
  • Assumes leadership role in assigned area
  • Function in the role of relief shift charge
  • Implement clinical care protocols
  • Perform inter-facility critical care ground and/or air transport
  • Primary clinical preceptor for orientation of Level I, II and III staff, temporary staff and other professionals as required
  • Proficient in delivery of Heliox other specialty gases act as a resource when implementing these therapies
  • Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilator modalities, including high frequency 3100B
  • Proficient in assisting physicians with bronchoscopes, or perform tracheotomy tube weaning or Pulmonary
  • Function Lab testing or Indirect Calorimetry testing or ECMO
  • Proficient in delivery of Nitric Oxide
Education Qualifications
  • Completion of a 2 year or 4 year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree or the equivalent) or satisfies the requirements as outlined by the NBRC for registry examinations or meets experience requirements as outlined below
Experience Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to adjust communications to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver
  • Ability to conduct analysis and formulate conclusions
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes
  • Knowledge of principles of health, hospital and clinic organization and administration
  • Knowledge of the indications, contraindications, and hazards of continuous long-term or short term mechanical ventilation, various respiratory therapy techniques, and anatomy, physiology and pathology related to the respiratory system required
Licenses and Certifications
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitione in CA
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist
