Job Description Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Leader - Supplier Partnerships will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long¬ term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Specifically, you will be responsible for developing and executing a strategy to mobilize our key global sourcing partners to drive sustainable year-over-year cost productivity.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Engage & collaborate with critical supplier partners to create a framework that mutually incentivizes GE and our partners to generate variable cost productivity year-over-year.
  • Build sustainable processes and operational rigor to drive project ideation and the execution of variable cost productivity initiatives at critical supplier partners.
  • Work across the GE Sourcing teams to evaluate and manage variable cost productivity initiatives. Coordinate cross-functionally with Engineering, Pivot-to-Value (P2V), Quality, and Supply Chain teams on key program schedules, technical analysis, resource allocation and total cost optimization to maximize the variable cost productivity of each initiative.
  • Work closely with Sourcing Global Commodity Leaders to help develop sourcing strategy for each critical supplier partner to achieve goals around safety, quality, fulfillment, cash flow, variable cost productivity, and controllership.
  • Balance strategy development with the tactical execution necessary to execute cost reduction projects through contract negotiation, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with Finance to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations to the general ledger
  • Develop technical and market expertise in the applicable global commodity areas
  • Create and enforce business policies to meet business targets and customer needs, including improving procurement processes and optimizing Sourcing resources to enhance the customer experience with Sourcing
  • Work closely with Engineering, Buyers and Sourcing Quality Engineers to ensure fulfillment and quality requirements are achieved with critical supplier partners
  • Team with logistics and commercial teams to ensure adequate regional capacities exist to minimize transportation costs and meet localization requirements
  • Align closely with Sourcing Global Commodity Leaders to identify and assess supplier capabilities, and measure and manage critical supplier partner performance
  • Interface with other GE business sourcing teams and participate in companywide strategic sourcing initiatives


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 7 years of commercial or operational experience in Sourcing, Sales, Commercial Operations, Engineering, and/or Supply Chain


  • ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT: Willingness and ability to travel at least 30%


Desired Characteristics
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business or Engineering; Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Prior leadership program experience, such as OMLP, FMP, CAS (GE internal candidates)
  • Prior sourcing experience in negotiating, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers, sourcing strategy, and implementing contracts
  • Prior experience in engineering, design or advanced manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills
  • Lean manufacturing experience, including Production Preparation Process, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Work-Out facilitation.
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills.
  • Change agent with ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Six Sigma training or equivalent process improvement training
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
