ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer's Customer and Commercial Creation Center are accountable for the creation, configuration, launch, and support of all externally facing digital (web, mobile, omni-channel, & device) products, platforms, services, and experiences, servicing all external customer types at Pfizer.

In addition, the C4 team is accountable for our Marketing Technology (Martech stack) inclusive of Digital Platforms, Digital Channel Enablement, Content Integration, and Marketing/Marketer Tools for driving Digital Enablement within Pfizer.

The Senior Director - Emerging Platforms Lead provides the senior level technical leadership responsible for end-to-end Strategic Direction, Roadmap Delivery, Key Project Delivery, Security and Operations Lifecycle for platforms including Canvas Web Builder, Helix, SmartSuite and any additional platforms deemed in scope of this role.

This global leadership position requires a superior and proven ability to use deep experience, industry/market trends and a broad technology background to anticipate, understand and steer current and future business strategy whilst crafting complementary technical strategy and platform roadmaps to meet business needs and empower our customer-aligned vision. This position is accountable for strategy, delivery and scaled operations enabling delivery of key programs operating on a global scale.

The core platforms of Pfizer's digital solutions are a true enabler of differentiation within the competitive marketplace. Decisions made by this role will have long-lasting impacts on Pfizer's ability to challenge competitors with state of the art commercial and technical solutions.

This position plays a key role in influencing the delivery of the ongoing digital transformation at Pfizer, sharing knowledge, and building alignment at a global business unit level.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this position will be providing strategic vision & leadership to the development & operations of the Canvas Web Builder, Helix, SmartSuite and other platforms deemed in scope of this role, leading a team of at minimum 5 colleagues and 30+ contractors.

This means:

Use industry and internal business & technical knowledge to ensure the investments made into the platforms align closely to the upcoming business needs and demands. As there is a lag in the time taken to implement technical solutions, it is critical that you can predict market and internal trends and anticipate the needs of customers. Ensure everything the team does is aligned to the business goals and objectives of the organization and Business Units. Establish excellent and productive professional relationships with other leaders across the organization to ensure strong alignment of visions and strategies.

Lead a multi-functional team ranging from Project Managers, Engineers, Development teams, Security Analysts & Platform Operations teams, ensuring that the delivery of the roadmap & vision follows modern standard methodologies and is aligned with internal practice from other specialist teams.

Establish and champion effective communication practices and channels to enable delivery teams to make the best-informed decisions when executing against Pfizer's vision and strategies.

Be a champion for the DevOps mentality and ensure the model's success, building a culture of shared responsibility and transparency leading to higher quality and quicker delivery of output. Instill a culture of measurement, learning and feedback.

Embed Continuous Improvement and automation in all relevant teams and develop a DevOps culture around them. Deliver on quality, customer satisfaction and budget targets.

Develop plans for managing talent inside and outside the organization and for improving leadership bench strength. You will ensure that the talent base has the skills required to complete tasks of today and be prepared for the changing business needs of tomorrow.

Champion innovation. Develop and inspire resources to implement creative ideas/processes/products across C4 and commercial Business Units, taking appropriate risks to achieve desired results; guide direct reports on acceptable levels of risk-taking.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Experience as an information technology professional in roles leading large scale global digital capabilities is a must. Experience in managing the strategy and lifecycle of a global portfolio of rapid iteration digital assets is critical for the success of this role.

Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience with increasing responsibility designing, delivering, and maintaining numerous large-scale, global systems & platforms for large-scale global organizations across multiple hardware and software platforms. Including leading teams of contract or colleague resources. Experience operating in a large multi skilled software development or operations team.

Progression through roles to a level with proven management and leadership experience.

Demonstrable experience operating in a DevOps environment.

Demonstrable experience with Software Development Lifecycle management, including production system maintenance and operation.

Demonstrable experience with software delivery concepts including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Continuous Delivery, Design Systems, Automation, Microservices, API-first.

Demonstrable experience with: Design systems implementation, Campaign and Interactions Management centered around Marketo, AWS services and Cloud development, Mulesoft Services and Integration, Complex Data Integrations/patterns, Data Modeling, Warehousing & ETL, Analytics & Reporting, Mobile development frameworks including iOS, Android, Ionic, React but also Vue, Angular. Experience with related emerging technologies, Alexa, Chatbots, AR/VR, Machine Learning concepts.

Experience with modern testing practices including TDD, Contract Testing, BDD, API Mocking. AWS Infrastructure scaling and optimisation best practices.

Demonstrated experience in:
  • Vendor negotiations with cited impacts to strategic direction and in-line production products.
  • Handling financial resources and staff to meet goals across multiple projects
  • Sourcing model definition and effective execution


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

As above and including Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management or relevant disciplines.

OVERALL :

Proven capability handling large scale, enterprise software requirements definition, designs and implementations in a global 24/7 environment.

Technology solutions delivery in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment a bonus.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Travel is a key part of this role as it is a virtual position. Expectations around travel will vary but you will need to be able to travel globally.

Our business is a 7x24x365 endeavor. This role may on occasion require physical or virtual participation on a weekend, holiday, or after normal business hours.
