What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. Amgen's Bioassay Technology team of the Genome Analysis Unit is seeking an enthusiastic bioengineer to join our biotechnology group at our research facility in South San Francisco. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and be able to work independently and as part of cross-disciplinary teams. In this vital role you will join an energetic research team responsible for the design and execution of research projects involving cell-based assay development, organoid engineering, automated cellular imaging, image analysis, and the production of rich, phenotypic datasets to characterize such systems.

Responsibilities of this position include designing and conducting experiments to interrogate in vitro biology through the development of physiological model systems by integrating custom devices, multiple cell types, and simulating an appropriate growth environment to study the cells therein; using cellular imaging techniques to characterize both 2D and 3D cell culture systems; development of and adaptation of image analysis algorithms to extract relevant information to meet specific assay needs; and comprehension of such results in order to communicate findings to colleagues. Familiarity with iPSC biology and differentiation experience is preferred. Additional responsibilities include mammalian cell culture, assay development experiments, and incorporation of laboratory automation where suitable. Good understanding of drug discovery is desired.
