What you will do

In this vital role The Senior Associate Security Engineer plays a meaningful role in building, deploying and maintaining secure and resilient solutions to support Amgen manufacturing operations. The individual will provide security oversight and support for manufacturing and packaging operations with the focus on network security for manufacturing/packaging, automation, and facility systems. This team member be a part of the site manufacturing IS team and will work jointly with Security, Infrastructure and Operations IS teams to implement information security strategies, standards, tools and processes.
  • Work with Security Operations, Networking, Infrastructure Teams and Operations IS to provide mentorship to manufacturing operations on security strategies, processes, response, and technologies.
  • Ensures new systems and changes to existing systems adheres to network security design standards.
  • Conducts periodic reviews for cyber security compliance.
  • Participate in audits covering network security and technologies.
  • Maintains site-specific architecture, asset management and sustainability documentation.
  • Collaborates with analysts, engineers, data scientists to ensure secure and resilient architecture throughout the lifecycle of the manufacturing/automation applications.
  • Ensures that the manufacturing, packaging, automation, and facilities systems are patched with the latest updates.
  • Supports the Intrusion Detection System, Application Safe-listing technologies, Endpoint Protection and Cyber Incident Response, and systems to support business continuity.
  • Responsible for early identification of risks, resolving impact and mitigation approach, and escalation of site issues.

Master's degree


Bachelor's degree & 2 years of IS Security experience

Beyond that the additional preferred qualifications are:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Information Systems
  • 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing support environment with 3+ years of demonstrated ability in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industries
  • 3+ years' combined experience with the following product platforms:SCCM, Active Directory administration, security and instruction detection systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for software development life cycle methodologiesand21 CFR Part 11
  • Experience with validation and change control methodology
  • Hands-on experience with computerized systems including troubleshooting, reliability and performance improvements
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
  • Ability to lead multiple tasks and effectively set priorities
  • Strong computer skills and possess the ability to apply science-based thinking to practical applications
