We have an opportunity for Senior Supply Planner based in Lake Forest, IL. In this role, you will be reporting to the Manager, Supply Planning, this new and critical position will have high visibility and opportunities for collaboration with leadership and cross-functional teams around the world under the Infectious Diseases Developed Markets business unit under Abbott Rapid Diagnostics. This individual contributor will be a critical team player to manage end-to-end supply chain planning for the business unit. Working under general supervision, the Sr. Supply Planner will provide recommendation and analysis to corporate leadership, team members and key stakeholders which supports the company's operations, supply chain, financial and commercial initiatives. This person will also cross-train with other Global Planning team members in order to provide support and work coverage.

We support a rapidly expanding business unit within Abbott. We liaise with Manufacturing operations in US, Korea, China amongst many other external Global Suppliers. We serve and support a global customer base and provide essential testing solution including rapid COVID-19 tests (ID NOW, BinaxNow, Pnbio, etc.). Our primary ERP systems are SAP and Fourth Shift.

  • Responsible for improving business processes for key planning and control areas of the IDDM supply chain including but not limited to MRP, Supply Planning, Finite Scheduling, S&OP and Metrics, working with key stakeholders to map out "as is" state and creating the ''future state". The individual will be a divisional resource and provide guidance and leadership for IDDM Supply Chain business processes worldwide.
  • Ensure timely and cost effective delivery of product to Abbott customers.
  • Continuously improve line fill rate and reduce backorder to improve customer experience.
  • Own the creation, alignment and execution of supply plans that ensure supply efficiency.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures. Responsible for Supply Chain business process creation, optimization and standardization across the division. Assist in the development and implementation of core business planning processes for supply planning, inventory management, replenishment planning and S&OP planning. Responsible for benchmarking industry and other Abbott divisions regularly to provide paths to process simplification and cost improvement opportunities.
  • Manage the coordination and integration of software systems and tools to facilitate divisional reporting and planning activities. This will include the identification, development and implementation of systems and tool selection and deployment working with IT, Quality and Operations on a global platform. Manage, maintain and develop positive relationships with site supply chain personnel, division leaders, operations, quality and finance to positively influence decision making and improve performance. Be proactive and direct in communicating opportunities, issues and critical matters, ensuring that management and senior staff are current on all critical matters, with a focus on resolution alternatives, recommendations and implementation planning, costs and benefits.
  • Ensure integrity and transmission of replenishment schedules.
  • Ensure regular review and update of all SOPs pertaining to the Planning and Customer Service departments.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs by all supply department personnel.
  • Provide scheduling system knowledge support for site, plants, and affiliates.
  • Review key performance indicators regularly, identify opportunities to improve performance, and execute implementation of improvements.
  • Identify supply issues, seek alternative opportunities, develop and implement corrective actions to address issues, communicate to plants, local management, customers, and division management where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all supply chain partners.
  • Selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve organizational objectives, which may lead to the division missing planned margin goals.
  • Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Initiates or maintains schedule for projects and project milestones. Establishes priorities of individual or project assignments.
  • Develop, maintain and control a master production schedule by balancing customers' requirements and manufacturing capacity constraints

  • Bachelor of Science in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in English
  • Minimum Experience Required:
  • (Technical/Business Knowledge (Job Skills))
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience
  • Has worked at least 2 years in Supply Planning roles; S&OP, operational excellence, production scheduling, capacity planning, inventory management and master scheduling
  • A strong track record of collaborating with and influencing multifunctional, globally dispersed teams, with a project environment preferred
  • Solid project management skills to deliver operational excellence improvements as needed
