Role Summary
  • The Oncology Scientific Leadership Research Manager is a core function within Global Medical and Scientific Affairs (GMSA) to advance human health through support of investigator-initiated studies, scientific congresses, and the Scientific Medical and Research Teams (SMART). The SLRM ensures that the oversight of these activities is achieved to globally impact the scientific strategy for the Oncology therapeutic area. Optimal oversight of the operations of the Oncology Company Investigator Studies Program (ISP) is pivotal to ensuring that the research submitted to Our Company by investigators is compliantly and efficiently managed.
  • The SLRM is a project manager for the ISP, our our Research & Development Division Congress support, and SMART for the Oncology therapeutic area. These key functions contribute to the development and refinement of our Oncology Scientific and Medical Affairs Strategic Plan for Our Company Research Laboratories. The SLRM problem solves and makes empowered decisions that affect a wide range of cross-divisional stakeholders and influences decisions that impact the SMART teams.


Responsibilities and Primary Activities

Investigator Studies Program
  • Co-leads with the Oncology ISP Chair (Global Director of Scientific Affairs) and supports the Oncology ISP committee with the review, decision, and operational management of research proposals


Scientific Medical and Research Team
  • Co-leads the SMART team with the Oncology Global Director of Scientific Affairs (GDSA) and is responsible for the development and updates to the Oncology Scientific Affairs SMART Plan
  • Acts as the planning manager with the GDSA for all the Oncology congress meeting activities


Congress Support
  • Supports logistical and strategic planning of our Research & Development Division activities at scientific congresses, such as daily debriefs and scientific leader engagements


Required Qualifications, Skills, & Experience

Minimum
  • Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of pharmaceutical or healthcare-related experience in internal or external scientific research operations OR
  • Master's degree plus 3 years of pharmaceutical or healthcare-related experience in internal or external scientific research operations
  • Leadership, resilience, and collaborative skills
  • Ability to coordinate across divisions
  • Ability to lead without direct authority over a continuum of stakeholders
  • Research database proficiency
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Executive level meeting management experience


Preferred
  • Sigma or project management certification
