Target discovery is critical to the success of drug discovery. Using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust scientific methodology, we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough. The Neuroscience Department is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist with a strong background in Molecular Cell Biology and Neuroscience to join us at West Point, PA site for this endeavor. The successful candidate would have in-depth knowledge of neurodegenerative research and target validation. He or she will design and implement in-vitro and cell-based experiments using genetic and pharmacological manipulation of pathways in relevant systems to validate novel targets and characterize the mode of action of tool molecules. In this role, he or she will also study the scientific literature, develop new technical expertise, and participant in scientific dialogue in project meetings and internal/external scientific meetings. The candidate must enjoy laboratory work and thrive in a team environment to build strong relationships within highly collaborative, multidisciplinary groups to effectively execute drug discovery.

Educational and experience requirements
  • Ph. D. in Biology or related field or M.S. with 3+ years of experience or B.S. with 5+ years of working experience in pharma, biotech, or academic setting.


Required skills and experience
  • A background in in-vitro and cell-based assay development and familiarity with Immunoassay or luminescence-based detection approaches.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, such as qPCR, Western blot, ELISA/MSD, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in cell culture, primary neuron culture and iPSC neuron culture; experience working with animals for in-vivo work is a plus.
  • A track record of achievement in independently designing and executing experiments;
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong communication (oral and written) skills


Preferred skills and experience
  • Experience in working with animal models of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Experience in image-based techniques, e.g. Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry, or high-content imaging.
  • Experience in functional genomics methods, such as siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR/Case9 or RNA splicing.
