About This Role

The Biochemistry and Chemistry Development group (BioCD) is seeking a motivated scientist to join the Analytical Development department at Biogen, in Cambridge, MA. The scientist will work with their manager and peers in a cross-functional team to advance Biogen’s biologics portfolio, having the opportunity to work on novel programs across the product lifecycle. The successful candidate is expected to work independently and with other team members to plan, conduct, analyze, and document experiments to drive protein therapeutics development and innovation in a highly collaborative and innovative team. The role offers opportunities for growth including working with colleagues in upstream/downstream process development, formulation and drug product development, and multiple technology development and innovation initiatives.

WhatYou’llDo
  • Develop and qualify liquid chromatography (HPLC/UPLC) and electrophoresis (CE, icIEF) methods
  • Analyze data, write reports and method protocols
  • Provide analytical and product characterization support for process development and regulatory filings
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and implement new technology at Biogen
  • Transfer methods to internal QC and external CRO sites

Qualifications

Associate Scientist III

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 0+ experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related Biological Sciences
  • Understanding of protein structure and analytical chemistry
  • Basic knowledge in separation methods (chromatography and electrophoresis)
  • Experience in good documentation practices, data analysis, reporting and review.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience in development of chromatography- and/or electrophoresis-based methods
  • Strong team player with ability to execute tasks independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to demonstrate scientific curiosity and innovation.

Sr Associate Scientist

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 2+ experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related Biological Sciences
  • Understanding of protein structure and analytical chemistry
  • Deep knowledge in separation methods (chromatography and electrophoresis)
  • Experience in development of chromatography- and/or electrophoresis-based methods
  • Proficiency in good documentation practices, data analysis, reporting and review.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Skills
  • Strong team player with ability to execute tasks independently and as part of a team.
