Job Location: Hershey PA


Serves as Quality Regulatory Compliance (QRC) representative for quality and food safety programs assessment and improvement for external manufacturing facilities and suppliers supporting the Lily's Brand. This includes currently operational and newly acquired facilities and partners. Under moderate guidance, leads quality and food safety system assessments, develops and drives improvement plans for the external manufacturing facilities and suppliers. Serves as a resource for newly acquired businesses, external partner facilities with respect to Global Food Safety Standards, food safety regulations, weight control, sanitary design, allergens, cleaning, incident management and other food safety systems.

Examples include auditing and assessing suppliers, external manufacturing facilities, warehouses against Hershey's Product Excellence Program while identifying deficiencies and requesting follow up corrective action plan. This position works closely with procurement, supply chain, R&D.

This position is within the Quality and Governance COE, QRC, Hershey PA. This is a corporate based position located in Hershey, PA.

Major duties and responsibilities:
  • Auditing: Conduct quality and food safety systems audits for newly acquired partner's manufacturing facilities to provide assessments of adequacy and issues recommendations to ensure compliance standards are met. Provide audit summaries to Hershey's and Lily's Senior Management. Manage corrective actions for external manufacturing facilities for quality and food safety related issues, nonconformities, or system deficiencies.
  • Clearly and effectively interpret and communicate Hershey quality policies and procedures to internal stakeholders and to external manufacturers and suppliers. Coach and collaborate with external quality teams to resolve specific food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Facilitate process/procedure improvement sessions related to: incident management, serious food safety/product quality issues, audit nonconformities and overall quality system improvements.
  • Performance monitoring: Develop and drive corrective action plans, periodic reviews and escalation of food safety related issues. Track % closure of corrective actions.
  • Assemble team of internal experts from appropriate functional groups to solve food safety and/or quality problems or deficiencies.
  • Training: Develop and/or implement training programs to assure compliance and understanding of Hershey's quality and food safety expectations.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Generalist with broad based knowledge in multiple areas including regulations, industry practices, Global Food Safety Initiative, quality systems, data management, manufacturing processes, development of policies and procedures, and ability to implement as required. Expected to provide leadership for specific programs, project management, training, and coaching of external quality teams.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and international food industry regulations
  • Detailed knowledge of regulatory and quality system requirements - Food Safety (FSMA, HACCP), Good Manufacturing Process (GMP).
  • Travel: Approximately 40% travel expected US. Higher travel on focused projects.
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Superior communication skills in verbal and written form. Cultural business knowledge and acumen required
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees (from Production to VP level)
  • Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Understanding of production / manufacturing environment
  • Advanced proficiency in computer programs / software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Teams, SAP, Power BI
  • Advanced knowledge of sanitation, sanitary design of equipment and facilities, food microbiology

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science or related field.
  • Must have 5 years applicable work experience in the food industry implementing quality and food safety programs.
  • HACCP, SQF and PCQI certification preferred.
