Senior Energy Efficiency Program Specialist

You will implement and manage commercial & industrial (C&I) programs for Washington Gas' Energy Efficiency (EE) team. Work jointly with EE leadership, marketing, reporting & data analytics, and other cross-functional teams to monitor performance and ensure program success.

You will:

  • Provide technical and administrative management of EE programs and pilots delivering energy savings for C&I customers.

  • Oversee program implementation vendor activity to ensure contractual obligations for data management, data privacy and reporting are met.

  • Coordinate outreach and awareness efforts to C&I customers, while maintaining participation and resources for participating service providers (contractors) within a trade ally network.

  • Communicate with strategic partners and stakeholders to assess needs and find innovative approaches to increasing program participation.

  • Proactively monitors and analyzes program implementation and effectiveness, while providing recommendations related to improving progress towards program goals and objectives.

  • Coordinate with internal staff to provide program training and awareness; along with identifying ongoing projects suitable to participate in EE programs.

  • Support the meeting of regulatory requirements by either assisting in or facilitating various activities such as program reporting, responding to data requests, and program design/planning.

  • Maintain strong working knowledge related to energy issues, industry trends, codes & standards, and emerging technologies within the energy efficiency sector.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, economics, environmental policy or related field with 5 years of experience in program/project management or relevant experience. Experience may be used in lieu of education.

  • Strong familiarity with the concept of energy efficiency (EE) as it relates to technology and program methodologies.

  • Applicable knowledge of federal, state and local EE legislation and regulations.

  • Attested ability to work effectively as a member of various teams in a matrixed environment, which may include company personnel, project resources, and third-party/outsourced vendors.

  • Demonstrated successful project management experience.

  • Ability to present ideas logically and concisely to diverse internal and external audiences at all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, vendors, and peers.

  • Demonstrated ability to speak in front of groups, C-level executives and senior decision makers.

Prefer to have:

  • Graduate degree in relevant field.

  • Experience in or working knowledge of the natural gas industry or regulated utilities.

  • Demonstrated experience of EE program implementation within the C&I sector.

  • Strong working knowledge of state regulatory procedures and policies that impact EE programs.
