WGL - Project Engineer (Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace/Petroleum) II, III or IV

Are you a critical thinker and seeking a new challenge? WGL is seeking to complete its Process Engineering team by hiring a Process Engineer at either an level II, III or IV. This position will be based at our Springfield, VA facility.

Engineer II
Responsible for the Design and Engineering (D&E) function associated with capital and major maintenance project support at storage, production, gate station, and transmission system facilities.

You Will

  • Develop and update piping and equipment standards and specifications.
  • Assists with the development of engineering standards and specifications, electrical load studies, etc.
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical/electrical equipment and makes recommendations for repair or replacement, as required.
  • Assist with management of a formal equipment testing program including evaluating capacity ratings of equipment, recommendations for maintenance, post-maintenance evaluation, etc.
  • Manage specific capital and maintenance projects of small scope, including financial planning, scheduling, equipment specification and procurement, contractor interfacing, development of construction and operating drawings and project documentation.
  • Perform the engineering and design for large load meter/regulator (LLMR) projects.
  • Perform engineering analysis and equipment selection, piping design, etc. on selected portions of major projects at the direction of senior engineers or the Process engineering manager.
  • Develop process flow sheets, control loop, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's), and electronic wiring diagrams.
  • Develop and delivers presentations to report project statuses to various audiences.

You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum/Natural Gas preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in natural gas or related energy sector industry, and/or project engineer role.
  • "Engineer-in-Training Certificate" preferred.
  • A general knowledge of related engineering disciplines and applicable codes and standards.

Engineer III

Responsible for the Design and Engineering (D&E) function associated with capital and major maintenance project support at storage, production, gate station, and transmission system facilities.

You Will:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum/Natural Gas preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in natural gas or related energy sector industry, and/or project engineer role.
  • "Engineer-in-Training Certificate" required.
  • Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Working knowledge of related engineering disciplines and applicable codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of construction practices and procedures.

Engineer IV

Responsible for the Design and Engineering (D&E) function associated with capital and major maintenance project support at storage, production, gate station, and transmission system facilities.

You Will

  • Develop and update piping and equipment standards and specifications.
  • Develop engineering standards and specifications, electrical load studies, etc.

  • Manage a formal equipment testing program including evaluating capacity ratings of equipment, recommendations for maintenance, post-maintenance evaluation, etc.
  • Manage specific capital and maintenance projects of small scope, including financial planning, scheduling, equipment specification and procurement, contractor interfacing, development of construction and operating drawings and project documentation.
  • Perform engineering analysis and equipment selection, piping design, etc. on major projects at the direction of senior engineers or the process engineering manager.
  • Develop process flow sheets, control loop, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's), and electronic wiring diagrams.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff members.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to report project statuses to various audiences.

You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required (Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum/Natural Gas preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in natural gas or related energy sector industry, and/or project engineer role.
  • "Engineer-in-Training Certificate" required.
  • Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Working knowledge of related engineering disciplines and applicable codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of construction practices and procedures.
