WGL - Senior Marketing Manager

Job Description

The Senior Manager Marketing will manage the Company's Marketing activities directed to consumers, businesses and business partners to increase natural gas awareness, promote natural gas preference and grow and retain the customer base of Washington Gas by positioning the company as the preferred source of clean and efficient energy solutions and as a trusted advisor through targeted offerings that deliver top-quartile customer satisfaction. Works closely with others across the organization to identify and pursue new marketing and outreach opportunities to drive profitable growth and retention.

You will

  • Responsible for assisting management in planning and creating integrated strategies, tactics, activities, and materials to support the Company's marketing plan inclusive of marketing, branding, media and public relations, and marketing-related customer relationship and engagement activities.
  • Plan implement and manage marketing and communications plans in support of the organization's mission, goals and objectives, including positioning, and market and competitive analysis.
  • Create and execute innovative marketing and public relations strategies, for both traditional and social media channels including creation of content for external communications including web content, sell sheets, blog posts, and articles as needed.
  • Manage all aspects of external marketing and communications, including branding, advertising, development and maintenance of collateral materials.
  • Manage marketing campaigns with a metrics driven approach including providing periodic progress updates to leadership and business development.
  • Partnering to refine plans and update strategies to align with emerging business needs.
  • Manage the organization's websites in coordination with Corporate Communications, Energy Efficiency, Customer Experience and other functional areas.
  • Serve as a marketing contact for strategic partner projects, working closely with the business development team to grow business opportunities.
  • Ensure consistency of key messages and brand identity according to company brand identity guidelines.
  • Manage and support company functions for marketing and business development (tradeshows, conferences, etc.) to ensure compliance with style, brand, and communications policies and guidelines.
  • Assist with content development for external social media accounts and management of accounts.
  • Develop and manage the annual marketing plan and budget including tracking ROI on marketing spend.
  • Manage and support the marketing and communications team, ensuring a positive teamwork environment and growth opportunities.
  • Where necessary, source and manage the use of external resources (e.g., public relations firms, advertising and marketing agencies, photographers, printers, digital media experts, graphic designers, among others).

You must have:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 7+ Years in marketing, sales, advertising or marketing communications (strategy, branding, website content, and/or public relations)
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field preferred
  • 2+ Years of supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Demonstrated successful track record of addressing marketing challenges through the development and implementation of dynamic and effective marketing and branding campaigns.
  • Working knowledge of the energy and/or natural gas field helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and analyze multiple scenarios in solving broadly defined or complex business problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex messages to diverse audiences at all organization levels.
  • Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office, to share, retrieve, research and present business information.
