BAE Systems is seeking a Project Engineering Lead to set the engineering vision for our growing Eclipse RF portfolio. Eclipse RF is recognized as an industry leader supplying high performance RF transceivers and systems to support demanding Software Defined Radio applications.

The Eclipse Portfolio Engineering Lead (PEL) is the engineering focal point for the product area focusing on product development, project execution, new business growth, and continuous improvement. The PEL acts as an engineering partner to the Portfolio Program Area Director. The PEL reports directly to the Adaptive Sensors Product Line Engineering Lead. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Partner with and support the Portfolio Program Director and staff to develop and deliver products and systems that meet our customer needs
  • Work cooperatively with discipline leads functions and peer PELs to effectively support engineering across the product line
  • Meet cost, schedule and technical performance for all projects through their life cycle
  • Ensure preparation and approval of competitive engineering bids that are executable, meet established price-to-win targets, and grow the business
  • Identify and support the development of critical skills and key resources
  • Develop and maintain measures related to engineering performance
  • Support continuous improvement activities and ensure adoption within the organization
  • Ensure proper application of process based on the size and complexity of the project
  • Establish goals, performance standards, budgets and staffing plans
  • Achieve established business and engineering financial targets
  • Work across organizational boundaries to solve problems and secure resources

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelors Degree in a technical field and 12+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • At least ten years of experience in engineering development of complex electronic systems including transition to production and product sustainment.
  • Experience leading diverse multi-disciplinary teams in the solution of complex technical problems
  • Project engineering management including organizational design, planning, estimating, design management, and product verification
  • Strong team building skills that enable collaboration and coordination within and across teams and functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve product quality and lower costs through technology insertion and process changes.
  • Proven ability to share and transfer technology across organizational boundaries to the benefit of our customers and the business


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Working knowledge and experience in the development of Signals Intelligence Systems and mission applications.
  • Experience in the development of product strategy and associated technical roadmaps.
  • Experience working directly with large defense contractors, DoD acquisition organization or intelligence community.
  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
