Job Summary

This opportunity is open to current PSEG employees only.

Provide leadership to P&C’s Outage Planning & Scheduling Group, utilizing a broad knowledge of business, project management, and engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience. In a leadership capacity; plan, schedule and manage outages and contingencies associated with Strategic Projects, Regional Transmission Expansion Projects (RTEP), Transmission Life Cycle (TLC), Energy Strong (ES), Transmission Hardening (TH), Transformer Monitoring Program (TMP), Transmission UG Re-conductoring, OPGW, OSW, and Distribution Life Cycle (DLC) projects. Provide leadership and manage a team of 12 – 16 MAST and contract employees. Accountable for the development of the Outage Planning & Scheduling Group, which includes three - four Team Leads who in turn have direct responsibility to interface with PSE&G’s Electric Systems Operations Center (ESOC), PSE&G’s four Operating Divisions and multiple Consulting-Engineering & Construction firms for both Inside and Outside Plant projects managed and executed by P&C or outsourced as Engineer, Procure & Construct (EPC) projects. Fully responsible to insure that PSE&G’s and PJM’s transmission outage criteria and standards are maintained by P&C Project Teams and the Consulting-Engineering & Construction firms managing projects in the P&C Project Portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have ultimate responsibility for the coordination and oversight of outages and contingencies associated with multiple complex projects and provide liaison functions with P&C Project Teams, System Protection, Asset Experts, vendors, Division Managers and personnel, consultants, and contractors. In a leadership capacity; develop and implement special programs, outage sequences and plans, and devise new and creative techniques to manage and schedule outages and contingencies. Support P&C’s efforts in developing / executing a competitive business strategy, proposal creation and results analysis. Achieve the desired results of the P&C Organization through the use of PSEG values and tools, sound management practices and skills and a total commitment to teamwork. Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for growth and learning for direct reports. Promote safety principles and counsel associates, as required. Assign and direct work to accomplish the desired results in a safe, efficient and expeditious manner.

As an employee of PSE&G, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations. Be on-call in accordance with Projects & Construction for response to system emergencies.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or minimum of six (6) years’ professional operational experience in outage planning, electric utility operations or construction
• Additional minimum ten (10) years of Electric Utility Engineering, Operations and/or Construction experience required
• Demonstrated ability to produce transmission outage sequencing documents and drawings
• Advanced knowledge and experience with electric / gas transmission and distribution systems, in depth experience with inside / outside plant assets, and advanced knowledge in interpreting electrical or civil construction drawings
• Detailed knowledge of applicable industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, etc.) and practices
• Advanced knowledge and experience in the design and operation of Overhead and Underground Transmission assets, Inside Plant Substation and Switching Station designs and operations
• Strong knowledge and understanding of outage management tools
• Previous leadership experience and demonstrated high level management skills
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, MS Visio and Adobe Acrobat Pro
• Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history

Preferred / Desired Skills:

• Knowledge and experience with the submission of transmission and distribution outages
• Knowledge of the competitive transmission markets nationally or understanding of the rules around competitive growth for the ‘ISO’ organizations
• Knowledge and understanding of PSE&G’s and PJM’s Transmission outage criteria
• PE License
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Advanced degree in Engineering or Construction Management
