What you'll do:

As an Instrumentation & Calibration Technician III in Frederick, MD, you'll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives.

The Instrumentation & Calibration Technician III will be required to perform routine calibration, preventive maintenance and repairs to instrument systems and components of laboratory equipment, production equipment, central utilities and building management systems. Responsibilities include:
  • Performing troubleshooting and repair efforts to return equipment to normal operation.
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley (AB) process control systems (PCS).
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Some knowledge of Instrumentation Buss technologies and protocols, Fieldbuss, Profibuss, DeviceNet, OPC.
  • Applying common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Obtaining or providing information or data on matters of moderate importance to the function of the department or which may be of sensitive nature, requiring some explanation or interpretation.
  • Frequent contact includes area/equipment managements, to report equipment status and to coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Performing troubleshooting and repair efforts to return equipment to normal operation.


Additional Job Functions:
  • Using basic hand tools
  • Utilizing precision measuring instruments
  • Reading electronic schematics
  • Reading, writing and utilizing drawings, mathematics, handbook formulas, mechanical schematics and piping diagrams P&IDs
  • Must be able to work in a clean room environment and lift 50 pounds


Essential for the role:
  • High School diploma and/or technical school, or certificate of completion at a 2-year technical school, or Military training and experience in relevant field.
  • 1-3+ years in a technical industry performing instrumentation calibrations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary for job.
  • Excellent planning and project management skills are a must.


Desirable:
  • Preference will be given to biotech/pharmaceutical experience
