This position's primary functions are monitoring product experience and assist preparing assumptions for business plan on a timely basis. The duties involve updating experience studying and assumptions setting files. Programing and validating results in the GGY AXIS actuarial software. The function will also be responsible for many ad hoc analysis, such as COVID 19 experience monitoring.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Monthly production of experience monitoring files for different insurance products. Analyze and communicate results, trends and anomalies
  • Assist coding and validation of product level assumptions and results in GGY AXIS software, including maintaining documentation and controls and providing audit support when necessary
  • Assist understanding and maintaining compliance with related Actuarial Standards of Practice
  • Perform ad hoc analysis related to claims, persistency, sales etc and provide support for Finance department
  • Developing ability to complete significant and complex data manipulation as well as complex calculations using Excel, Access, or SQL
  • Develops models and analyzes results
  • Verifies and reconciles financial reporting data and ensures controls are completed
  • Works independently with minimal supervision
  • Finds and creates solutions leading to efficiencies and automation
  • Critical thinking and ability to solve complex problems on an independent basis
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance
  • Interpersonal Skills-Maintains confidentiality. Effectively gathers information from other personnel and communicates decisions and errors/discrepancies to others

Required Qualifications:
  • Currently in final year of obtaining a bachelor's degree from an accredited college / university or obtained degree within the last 24 months; coursework to obtain degree must be completed prior to start of employment
  • 1+ passed actuarial exams by start of position
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Education in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another related technical field from an accredited college / university
  • Insurance Knowledge (Basic understanding of health and life insurance products and insurance terminology, and basic accounting concepts)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Basic understanding of SQL or other query language
  • Experience with GGY AXIS
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with Data Warehouse and Data Visualization Software such as Tableau
