As a Chief Architect in OptumRx, you will be able to directly impact the full supply chain of healthcare, helping to make it more seamless and frictionless, and providing a better consumer experience that touches all aspects of Healthcare. You will be working across the dynamic aspects of Optum's businesses, helping to inform and evolve their strategies in partnership, major initiatives and how we can stitch these all together to achieve modernization.

Chief Architect is responsible for technology leadership, establishing and maintaining roadmaps and representing all architecture disciplines for OptumRx core platform. This role is also responsible for engagement with Chief Architects from across the enterprise

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Drive creation or evolution of OptumRx platform strategy, architecture and roadmap in alignment with business objectives
  • Support organizational changes in areas of capability development, restructuring toward product-centric team models, and transitioning to modern engineering practices
  • Influence leadership on key technology strategy decisions
  • Work closely with OptumRx portfolio architects and EA for roadmap alignment
  • Drive ongoing architecture governance to ensure that all OptumRx portfolio implementations are in alignment with platform strategy
  • Engage with key technology decision makers both up and downstream of the platform teams to ensure delivery
  • Participate in leadership discussions regarding new technology selection/introduction and influence enterprise system planning activities
  • Manage a small team (~6-8 FTE: matrix/direct line) architects/engineers

Required Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of progressive technology leadership and engineering experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership role (engineering or architecture)
  • Expertise in engineering and enterprise architecture on critical, scalable, and flexible systems, including cloud native development and architecture, 12 factor application development, IaaS, PaaS, DevOps, and agile
  • High-level of emotional intelligence and confidence
  • Experience and success creating and delivering against business-enabling technology roadmaps
  • Experience creating effectively working relationships with engineering, executives, and key business partners to drive change agendas
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective
  • Experience executing with excellence: setting purposeful goals and achieving them through intelligent actions, balancing competing priorities without losing momentum behind execution
  • Experience leading through influence in a large, matrixed, global environment
  • Experience with a leadership style which fosters accountability, transparent communication, and innovation
  • Experience demonstrating outstanding collaboration, problem solving, and negotiation skills; Proven ability to influence others

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with building/operating technology platforms
  • Experience with Digital, Data & Analytics, and Open-Source technologies
  • Healthcare experience

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $130,300 to $250,200. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
