Through cutting-edge science and medicine, Biogen passionately seeks to discover, develop, and deliver to patients worldwide innovative therapies for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and autoimmune disorders.As the Senior Medical Director, youwill be responsible for leading and representing the Global Medical strategy including data generation efforts and cross-functional collaboration for two Biogen brands in multiple sclerosis.

Together with the Global MS Medical Therapeutic Area Head, you willdefine the medical strategy,alignwith commercial,workcross-functionally with key internal/external stakeholders and various partnersto address the unmet medical needs that can be addressed with this drug;ensure understanding of market dynamics, trends, and business priorities in order to adapt strategic approach and communicationaccordingly. You will be the key driver for generating the relevant data to advance/drive/inform the clinical practice and to support market access at the global level.

What You’ll Do
  • Supervise the development and implementation of brand related medical plans, partnering with the Product Development and Commercialization (PDC) team and senior management across functions to define, establish and execute a coherent strategic plan that addresses patient and HCP needs; will influence decisions and impacts business direction
  • Ensure full alignment with global/regional strategy across medical including US and Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific region in addition to cross-functional strategy, including regulatory, development, commercial, and value and access
  • Work closely with the Global MS leads to ensure input into development and ensure execution of all data generation activities (phase IV studies, Real World Evidence data generation, IITs and SRAs) across this brand
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development, Global Clinical Operations and Clinical Country Leads across all phases of development as it relates to the brand (phases I - IV).
  • Facilitate sharing of best practices and knowledge (training internally) among the product teams, across MS, and across the organization as well as providing educational materials to external partners
  • Highly focused on building advocacy through Key Medical Expert (KME) / Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagements together with regional counterparts
  • Together with other stakeholders drive integrated customer planning (ICP) process and ensure timely execution
  • Participate in high quality KOL engagement to ensure access to high quality external expertise and insights
  • Provide guidance to affiliates / partners on pre-launch and launch readiness
  • Stakeholder engagementw/ local authorities for registration / reimbursement discussions
  • Educate the organization about product specific medical needs, challenges, and opportunities

Required Skills
  • MD, PhD (Life Sciences) or PharmD required
  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience within a medical affairs role in the pharmaceutical industry, prior experience in managing emerging markets, alliances and partners preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in a highly culturally diverse international environment
  • Prior experience managing a team required
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of neurology (multiple sclerosis) preferred, with a experience working across multiple different health care systems/market dynamics, regulations, policies and SOPs, health economic techniques and trends
  • Broad experience in interaction with health authorities
  • Demonstrated strategic approach to implementation of data generation plans and scientific narrative across a disease area and/or treatment

In this field-based, specialty sales representative position you will be called upon to sell our products with key stakeholders in the Alzheimer’s Disease community: including Neurologists and allied health professionals.
