What you will do

In this vital role for the Drug Substance Process Development Cell Sciences and Engineering organization you will assist with or directly provide technical engineering support to the characterization of process optimization strategies and/or troubleshooting of operational issues in the manufacturing of routine commercial products and/or associated capital projects related to equipment and/or technology transfers. You will be responsible to support the execution of manufacturing/quality systems such as deviations, process validation, process monitoring, and new product introductions. You will work with a team of Scientists and Engineers by applying sophisticated and diverse engineering principles to the design and implementation of major system modifications, experiments, process changes and/or capital projects.
  • Perform standard engineering work requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments.
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Under general supervision will evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures. Assistance given for unusual problems.
  • Perform assignments that have clear and specific objectives and require investigation of limited number of variables.
  • Function as a technical expert to process, equipment or systems regarding troubleshooting operations.
  • Routinely monitor manufacturing processes for performance indicators and operations. Suggest problem resolution and provide troubleshooting.
  • Work with multi-functional teams in developing requirements and recommendations for large and/or highly sophisticated system/facility modifications.
  • Support the execution of manufacturing/quality systems such as deviations, equipment qualification and/or process validation, procedures, training, and new product introductions.
  • Apply process, operational, scientific expertise, basic compliance knowledge, and analytical and troubleshooting skills to support manufacturing operations.
  • Organizes, analyzes and presents interpretation of results for operational issues or engineering projects of minor scope and complexity.
  • Apply basic engineering principles to the design and implementation of system modifications, experiments and/or capital projects.
  • Assist in the development of technical solutions to sophisticated problems to support continuous improvement operations.

Master's degree in Engineering

OR

Bachelor's degree in Engineering & 2 years of engineering industry experience

Beyond that, additional preferred qualifications are:
  • Educational background in Chemical or Biomedical Engineering
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech processes and GMP production operations.
  • Detailed technical understanding of bio-processing unit operations for upstream and cell harvest processes.
  • Knowledge with documentation processes and technical writing in a highly regulated environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply GLPs and GMPs.
  • Ability to apply engineering science to production.
  • Ability to apply basic statistical analysis
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Skills in the development of hypotheses and approach.
  • Bilingual Fluent in both Spanish and English
  • Flexible to work off hours based on business needs.
