The Vice President of Market Operations is a key member of the West Texas Regional Leadership Team and works in conjunction with the Regional Medical Director. The position is responsible for day-to-day management of multiple provider-facing teams, and for execution against goals and performance metrics of the market strategic plan. Will also support coordination and management of the strategic planning, business development and project management of the West Texas markets. In addition, provides management oversight and maintains responsibility for ensuring the effective collaboration between Regional Texas Leadership, contracted physician leadership, clinical operations, and centralized corporate functions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain cohesive professional relationship with affiliate and contracted physicians, and clinic leadership to ensure continued market growth and adherence to performance benchmarks for provider engagement and Medicare Advantage model adoption, and other operations strategies
  • Responsible for driving all key performance measures for markets including IOI, membership and defined contribution margin. Also manages achievement of targets for % HCC Covered and Quality Metrics as defined on an annual basis for all network PCP
  • Develop, implement and direct market expansion strategy and strategic partnership growth initiatives
  • Collaborate with market leadership to ensure understanding of corporate direction, metrics and initiatives. Lead messaging and communication efforts within the market, provide feedback and resolve issues and concerns
  • Drive operational efficiency between Market leadership and expansion and payer relations staff to ensure successful transition and effective problem resolution during and post-acquisition for newly acquired practices, and during contract processing
  • Lead cross functional projects and initiatives through the development of key milestones, project plans and policy development
  • Responsible for ensuring market teams are well trained, that training initiatives ensure comprehension and integration of policies/procedures, and are fully understood by market personnel
  • Responsible for collaborating with network leadership to set and drive comprehensive network strategy including network development, service area expansion, contracting, provider relations, and relationships with the UHC contracting function
  • Establish and maintain on-going relationships with the key external business decision makers in medical groups, IPAs, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other pertinent providers
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships within the community including providers, business partners and community alliances, etc.
  • Achieve defined contribution margin targets for the contracted PCP networks
  • Work closely with marketing, external sales organizations, regional clinic staff and PCP's to set and achieve regional membership growth targets
  • Provides oversight to market staff to ensure they can communicate/train PCP's and their related staffs on effective use of metric tools (ePRG, pink box reports, % HCC covered reports, etc.)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Direct oversight/responsibility for the department driving quality & outcome measures, provider engagement, and clinical vendor teams

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive responsibility in a health care environment
  • 5+ years of director-level or higher experience
  • 5+ years of experience working within Specialty, Ancillary, Payers, Hospitals and Medical Groups/Primary Care landscapes
  • 5+ years of Provider relations experience
  • Ability to travel 50% within assigned markets

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related field
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to interface effectively internally with all levels of staff and externally with a wide range of people including physicians, office staff, hospital executives, medical groups, IPAs, the press, and community organizations
  • Leadership experience in matrix management/team-oriented environment
  • Leadership experience managing departments and teams in an exclusively virtual/telecommuter environment
  • Understanding of health plan budgeting and financial dynamics
