About This Role

Responsible for Understanding, Overseeing and Facilitating the strategy for how R&D uses vendors and external partners to support R&D operating models. Ensure value is realized from our external partners through partnering with the R&D business to set standards for consistent implementation of fit for purpose frameworks for governance, escalation management and functional oversight. Set standards and drive consistent and efficient execution of the end to end R&D vendor management process space through developing, documenting, implementing and continuously improving the processes, tools and systems that support Vendor Management practices based on industry trends, gaps identified through audits and inspections, and insights identified through engagement and networking with the R&D business and supporting functions e.g procurment, data privacy, IT, finance. Be seen as the expert on vendor management best practices for R&D.

What You’ll Do
  • Support and facilitate the development of R&D’s outsourcing strategy and functional operating models
  • Lead and partner with the business to institute fit-for-purpose frameworks for right-sized vendor management and advisory services to ensure effectiveness of vendor management and oversight
  • Develop, maintain and enhance a portfolio of standard frameworks for vendor management and oversight.
  • Identify new opportunities to use developed infrastructure to enhance vendor relationships for improved time, cost, quality and relationship health
  • As a Sub-Process Owner within the R&D Process Owner Network, develop, maintain and continuously improve the owned processes, tools and systems, based on external industry trends, internal metrics, and audit/inspection outcomes. Balance quality and efficiency based on global regulatory requirements and Biogen’s risk-tolerance.
  • Partner with R&D functional representatives and non R&D supporting functions across Biogen to understand and incorporate the end-user perspective in process development
  • Lead for R&D External operations in GCP, GLP or GVP regulatory inspection for audit-related activities, as needed
  • Lead and/or participate in R&D initiatives and cross-functional initiatives


Qualifications

You have Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills. You have proven your ability to manage multiple, competing priorities with excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required Skills
  • 8-10+ years pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in project management, business operations and oversight of vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and to develop, monitor and respond to metrics
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and team building skills
  • Experience collaborating across functions, including demonstrated ability to influence without authority
  • Knowledge of GCP, GVP and/or GLP regulations and industry best practices desired
  • Ability to successfully implement change management and lead others through change in a matrix environment
  • Experience leading Root Cause Analysis, Process mapping and other process improvement activities. Ability to work through process improvement (establish root cause and implementation of corrective and preventative action)

Preferred Skills

Masters or additional post-baccalaureate qualifications preferred
