Job Title: Senior Manager M&A

Job Location: Hershey, PA

The Senior Manager M&A will lead M&A activities to include acquisition target strategy, marketplace monitoring, new investment strategies, analyzing and tracking consumer trends and insights to inform strategy, and conducting M&A deals (domestic and international). This role will partner closely with our M&A strategy team, integration team, commercial leaders and finance to ensure M&A targets and analysis are aligned to the business objectives.

The Sr Mgr will evaluate the company's strategic objectives, directing the development of strategies and defining, driving, and managing the process of acquisitions/divestitures for THC and its operating divisions to best fit objectives. This could include domestic and international acquisitions which are aligned with the strategy, and the divestiture of operations no longer suitable to Hershey's goals. The Sr Mgr will also be involved in new business ventures / partnerships through our C7 model.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

M&A
  • Under the supervision of Sr Dir M&A, help develop and execute M&A strategies in alignment with enterprise and business unit strategies and priorities
  • Conduct due diligence and develop customized financial models that help drive M&A and venture investing decisions
  • Support development of executive and board presentations in support of strategic initiatives
  • Discovers and uses insights across brands and external markets to create game changing opportunities and growth
  • Partners with strategy, finance, M&A Integration lead, and key commercial business leaders to ensure clarity and alignment on M&A activities and integrations
  • Works with cross-functional M&A team to analyze and track consumer trends and insights to inform M&A choices and inform suggestions on targets
  • Leads the execution of business development initiatives, including acquisitions, partnerships and divestitures.


New Business Ventures

  • Under the supervision of Sr Dir M&A, help develop and execute venture fund priorities and strategies in alignment with enterprise and business unit strategies and priorities.
  • Works with business leaders to identify and evaluate new business development opportunities including new markets, customers, products, categories, and paths to market, either through acquisitions, investments, licensing and or partnerships.
  • Assists in execution of a company-wide strategy for Non-Traditional M&A Deals
    • Minority Investments (small high growth companies)
    • Investment plus Sales Support (i.e., Fulfil)
    • Partnership investments with other major investors (large company)
    • Accelerators
  • Drives analysis and evaluation of new strategic business opportunities and alliances for Hershey
  • Assist in integration planning and management of venture investment portfolio companies.
  • Work with partner companies / investments on executing key strategic initiatives; Evaluates targets through relationship building, working directly with external partners


Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
  • Substantial experience leading and negotiating transactions
  • Clear communicator, influencer, and relationship builder internal and external to Hershey
  • End-to-end commercial sales, marketing and supply chain knowledge
  • Experience working with cross-functional deal-making teams
  • Experience developing M&A strategy
  • Strong communication, analytical and financial/valuation skills
  • Experience supporting post-acquisition integration
  • Demonstrated ability to excel under time pressure
  • Ability to quickly develop and maintain relationships with senior executives
  • Commitment to integrity
  • Willingness to travel

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business discipline required. MBA preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum of 7+ years professional work experience;
  • Combination of leading and negotiating transactions, deal execution including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, licensing and real estate transactions, and commercial experience in sales/marketing.
  • Investment banking experience preferred.
