Instrument Technician


What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will be performing/providing calibration, repair, installation, troubleshooting, and documentation of instruments, process control systems, and equipment used in manufacturing, utility plants, and analytical labs. This role will support Drug Product - AML 14 organization, following GMP's regulations, Amgen's policies and SOP's and supporting a Non-Standard Shift structure.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Perform basic calibrations of instruments on process and utility equipment.
  • Assist the team with maintaining an up-to-date working spare parts inventory system.
  • Ensure that calibration paperwork, instrument files and work order documentation is completed with accurate information.
  • Implement maintenance activities, operate and supervise plant support equipment, referring sophisticated issues or problems to more expert personnel.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of Manufacturing equipment's such as Vial and syringe filler, autoclaves, washer's portable tanks and another manufacturing equipment or system including process control and laboratory instruments.
  • Provide basic support of start-up of new equipment to ensure it meets all mechanical design specifications.
  • Participate in a detailed training program in order to develop one's knowledge in the instrumentation field and other areas of the plant.
  • Assist in the development, revision, and updating of related SOPs for work related areas.
  • Configure and repair microprocessor-based instruments and controllers.
  • Perform regular certification of equipment to verify conformance to industry standards and Amgen procedures.
  • Maintain an up to date cGMP training book.
  • Other functions that may be assigned.


What we expect of you

The Basic Qualifications are:

Associate degree and 2 years of Maintenance experience


High school diploma/GED and 4 years of Maintenance experience.

Beyond that, the additional preferred qualifications are:
  • Experience working in a GMP environment
  • Knowledgeable of one or more of the following technical areas: Manufacturing Equipment Operations/ Maintenance, Process Equipment/ System Maintenance, CIP/SIP Operations/ Maintenance
  • Good Communication Skills both verbal and written.
  • Good Computer Skills.
  • Ability to interact constructively with peers/teams
  • Ability to seek outside resources as needed.
