Specific Job Description :

As an Electrical Enginner at Newport News Shipbuilding youwill develop technical proposals to address problems or improve performance for various instrumentation and control systems for the US Navy. You will be responsible for coordinatingtheimplementation of system design changes and assists in troubleshooting of control systems. You will also beresponsiblve for researching, developing, designing, and testingelectrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. As an Electrical Engineer you will designelectrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Additional responsiblities include:
  • Writingtechnical manuals or other technical documents to support operation of electrical equipment and systems.
  • Reviewdocuments to ensure they are technically accurate.
  • Interfacewith customers to fulfill technical information requests.
  • Troubleshootinstrumentation and control systems.
  • Developsystems and/or equipment modifications to correct deficiencies or improve performance.
  • Testequipment to troubleshoot or verify proper operation of equipment after design modifications are developed.

Basic Qualifications

5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

General level of knowledge in the following areas:
-Reactor Plant Instrumentation and Control Systems
-Reactor Plant cable protection and separation requirements
-Propulsion Plant Operations

Experience in the following:
-Using/Writing Technical Manuals
-Writing Technical Letters
