Job Description

The Senior Manager, G&C - Retail Credit Review, oversees and leads a highly complex and diverse governance and control function for an area of significant risk, complexity and scope usually involving medium to long-term planning, ensuring an integrated approach with other business governance and control areas, the broader organization and enterprise control functions.
The Senior Manager, G&C - Retail Credit Review is responsible for oversight and management of the Retail Credit QC Testing Team, within Shared Services Governance and Control Quality Control. The team is responsible for conducting an independent review of originated and non-originated loans, to ensure adherence to internal Underwriting Credit Policy standards, investor and GSE guidelines, and federal regulations. The Senior Manager, G&C - Retail Credit Review will be responsible for overseeing all post-close QC activity, including but not limited to - monthly loan reviews for a mixture of product types, escalated reviews of loan decisions, producing monthly QC results reporting, coordination with the Retail Lending Management team and other key stakeholders to review and analyze identified issues, document responses, and collaborate to determine remediation action plans.

• Manages and oversees the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices
• Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise
• Acts as a strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the function, with deep industry, external/internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management/enterprise areas
• Sets operational team direction and collaborates with others to execute on common goals
• Focuses on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
• Contributes to departmental initiatives to improve efficiency, effectiveness and communication
• Analyzes complex files with diverse products to determine compliance with company, investor, GSE and regulatory guidelines
• Interacts with the Retail Lending business line management and staff, providing quality testing result information, general feedback, and observation of areas identified as requiring prompt attention or additional training
• Documents Retail Lending business line's responses to identified issues and problems, ensuring the effectiveness of responses and resolutions


• Undergraduate degree preferred
• 10+ years of relevant experience
In-depth knowledge of the Consumer Lending industry and business
Demonstrated, extensive knowledge of credit underwriting standards across various lending products, GSE guidelines, and regulatory
Knowledge of current and emerging trends
• Ability to analyze and mitigate risk
• Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
• Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions
• Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently
