Job Description

Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) has an opoprtunity for an Engineer to join their team. This individual functions as a Supplier Technical Assessment and Validation (STAV) Lead Engineer, leading teams of subject matter experts (SMEs) to evaluate key, critical suppliers.

  • Leads the planning and coordination of onsite assessments, gaining buy-in from and participation of both the supplier's personnel, and NNS SMEs
  • Completes the Engineering review section of assessments during STAV/ISA's
  • Participates in closure of issue mitigation following assessment completion
  • Leads the completion of follow-up reporting post-assessment
  • Participates as member of O52 for planning and improvement of STAV/ISA process and procedure

Additionally, this position will also function as a SME for SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT/READINESS initiatives.

  • Helps to prepare supplier processes, equipment, and personnel for incoming NNS work

This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical.

Basic Qualifications

9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelors Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
