Summary:

Accountable for the repairing tasks, analysis and mechanical diagnosis for air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Provide preventive maintenance, corrective and predictive maintenance duties to Pharmaceutical manufacturing, Laboratory areas, Warehouse and Packaging process as well as related utilities. This position must comply with all Security Guidelines, Environmental Health and Safety regulations, SOP’S and the current Good Manufacturing Practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs daily preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance to air conditioning and refrigeration equipment related to manufacturing, laboratories, warehouse and/or packaging process, utilities equipment and ancillary controls such as (Air Handling Units, Exhaust Fans, Compressed Air, etc.).
  • Detect problems and repairs electric systems controls to cooling equipment such as centrifugal systems, reciprocating systems, refrigerators or dehumidifying equipment and; detect problems and repairs air condition systems including air output and refrigeration.
  • Performs basic instrumentation, electrical and computerized systems troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Performs proactive preventive maintenance (PM) and planned activities as per schedule or planner requests, complying with deadlines and timely documentation of the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Maintains tracking of daily job assignments and documentation to comply with departmental objectives and goals reaching expected key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Selects and recommends spares and necessary parts for stock purposes in order to minimize process downtime in replacement activities for existing and new equipment.
  • Attends and completes (in the electronic training tool) all coordinated regulatory and non-regulatory trainings.
  • Performs other maintenance equipment duties as requested such as:
  • Participates in equipment modifications, rearrangements or minor projects.
  • Supports manufacturing validations activities.
  • Provides mechanical support to manufacturing, packaging and utilities projects.
  • Any other duty / activity when required based on business needs, not necessary on the assigned area or area of expertise.


Knowledge/Skill:
  • Associate Degree in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Electric, Electronic
  • Five (5) years of experience in a Pharmaceutical Industry with proven working experience in refrigeration and air conditioning, electric or electrical
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical, instrumentation or mechanical situations on equipment
  • Technical understanding of corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance techniques and practices.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration, air conditioning, instrumentation, electrical, mechanical or electronics concepts and its relationship to manufacturing, laboratories and packaging or utilities equipment
  • Effective leadership skills is critical
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations
  • Excellent decision making skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Capability to interpret mechanical, electrical and process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Proven refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation experience in manufacturing, packaging, or utilities equipment
  • Proficient use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ability to teach others
  • Excellent team skills required to provide guidance for the integration of Electrical/Maintenance with customers
  • Knowledge in personal computers with exposition to: Microsoft (Windows, Words, Excel and Power Point)
  • Ability to read and understand technical equipment manuals in the English language
  • License as refrigeration and A/C Technician of P.R. (certified by the Examiners Board of the Department of
  • State of Puerto Rico
  • Willing to work overtime, rotate and /or alternate shifts, as per business needs
