Creating a comprehensive strategy for how we source, share, and manage our commerce data will guide our future commerce systems ability to remain flexible, reliable, and transparency.

To help bring this mission to life, the NY Times is hiring a Product Manager of Commerce Data Service . You will report to the Executive Director of Product, Commerce and work across technology and business departments within Growth, Customer Care, Data Platforms, Subscription Platforms, Finance, Identity, and other teams. We are looking for a leader that takes pride in hands-on requirements building through engineering and business collaboration. You will lead teams to improve current designs and influence leadership in multiple areas about how best to evolve their products in an API first vision of the future state. What will you do?
  • Create the strategic vision for our Commerce integration and API framework
  • Lead your product area by advocating for the platform strategy while integrating client requirements and business goals
  • Partner with internal departments to align and prioritize the long-term and short-term roadmaps
  • Collaborate on product designs for simplifying business logic and data flows within the commerce integration library
  • Influence team members to adapt their products and prioritize features that align with our commerce data integration strategy
  • Be the expert for Commerce API library and integration capabilities
  • Create a comprehensive, technical portfolio of data source to target requirements across all commerce data
  • Partner with other product leaders and company partners to guide joint planning, execution, and success
  • Create and own OKRs that lead to positive, balanced outcomes across missions
  • Translate requirements into user stories for our development teams
  • Work with our Engineering teams in Subscription, Data Platforms, Growth, Care, and others
  • Ensure coordination across business, design, and engineering teams
  • Raise and resolve risks or misalignments

Who Should Apply?

We are looking for a leader that has the following experience:
  • 3+ years in a Product Manager role with a most recent focus on integration products or API's
  • Technical aptitude of the internal workings of integration platforms and APIs
  • Experience building a technical product roadmap, breaking it into milestones and working to implement across multiple teams
  • Have overseen major product programs from ideation to completion and outcomes using data and client insights
  • Work across a variety of functions to develop solutions and launching platform products
  • Have experience working with developers and partners to establish API capabilities and with solutions that require integration with third-party and customer systems
  • Provide updates and strategic vision through written and oral communications
  • Collaborative attitude with experience building relationships at all levels and across the organization

Additionally, we would prefer someone that can bring these skills:
  • B2B and B2C omni channel commerce, subscription or Order-to-Cash experience
  • BS/BA degree. Major in Computer Science or Computer and Information Systems
  • Product Management certification
