In the Translational Science group at AstraZeneca, the Biosample Operations Associate is responsible for handling the collection and deployment of clinical trial PK and PD Biomarker samples for internal and external analysis.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities
  • Liaises with translational medicine and pharmacokinetic scientists and clinical team to establish sample collection and analysis requirements
  • Work with sites, vendors, business partners, and internal stakeholders to execute on sampling plan
  • Represents the Translational Medicine team on the Clinical Study Team, and attends all study team meetings to obtain updates on study activities and timelines
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing of laboratory manuals to ensure accuracy and consistency with the study protocol and clinical needs
  • Assist Translational Medicine team in PK/PD sample logistics which involves tracking and initiating sample delivery to internal and external labs for analysis
  • Facilitate sample query resolutions to ensure timely data delivery as needed
  • Track and handle all sample related activities and provide updates when appropriate
  • Have an understanding of scientific needs as well as clinical processes to bridge the needs between these functions
  • Assist in data reporting needs for each clinical study

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and bebe diligent and very organized
  • Consistent track record of successfully handling multiple contending priorities
  • Self-motivated and a quick learner who's able to execute on given instructions
  • Must have foundational knowledge on the basic processing of various biological sample matrices

Education/ Training
  • Life sciences degree recommended, but not required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working cross-functionally within a clinical study team setting.
  • Biological laboratory experience or previous sample operations management experience in leading all aspects of the tracking and/or analysis of clinical trial PK/PD samples
  • Prior knowledge and experience with databases and sample inventory software such as LIMS or other sample tracking systems.
