Department Overview

TDS Finance is responsible for developing and delivering financial strategy, information, insights and general management support within TDS. TDS Finance Stress Testing team is responsible for the development and delivery of stress testing results for the wholesale banking segment. We participate in Enterprise-wise Stress Testing (EWST), Federal Reserve Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR), OSFI / Bank of Canada Macroeconomic Stress Testing (MST) and other enterprise or region-specific programs.

Job Description

The Senior Analyst role within TD Securities (TDS) Finance Stress Testing is responsible for supporting the numerous aspects underpinning the continued progress of the stress testing framework. Such aspects include increasing model coverage for new initiatives, enhancing existing modeling approaches, processes, documentation and governance resulting in quality inputs to the broader capital adequacy assessments. The model scope is the wholesale segment, including Global Markets' Sales & Trading and Corporate and Investment Banking businesses. This role will be a key contributor to TDS Finance moving towards the target state of its stress testing capability. Stress testing is a critical component of the Bank's management practices, which informs and enhances its ability to manage stressed conditions and assess its capital adequacy, a key area of focus in market downturns as highlighted by the current pandemic. This role offers a unique opportunity for exposure to and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders across the Bank, including but not limited to Enterprise Capital Stress Testing, Model Risk Management, Market Risk Control, Technology, Treasury and businesses with the common goal of delivering a high-quality product.

Job Requirements

• Develop a deep understanding of each line of business's revenue (including Tax Transfer Pricing) and balance sheet drivers with a specific emphasis on changing dynamics in stressed conditions
• Develop or enhance internal stress testing processes including data collection, presentation development, analytics package and the continued journey toward a more automated state
• Understand recent business developments/new initiatives and plan for integration within stress testing modeling
• Strengthen controls surrounding the model lifecycle processes, mitigating gaps identified to ensure repeatability and scalability within stress testing framework
• Understand the banks management planning process and be able to reason through variation of stress testing model baseline forecasts relative to Management Plan/Forecast
• Build out reporting to highlight model development opportunities to increase model coverage of business activities
• Strategically access feasibility of cross-stress testing program (CCAR, EWST/MST) model usage
• Remain current with industry best practices and coordinate across stress testing programs and resources within the Bank to ensure consistency and leveraging of capabilities
• Understand, execute and enhance the Enterprise Recovery and Resolution planning process

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including solid presentation and business writing skills
• High degree of intellectual curiosity and drive to continuously learn and improve
• Strong reasoning skills and confidence to respectfully challenge items you do not understand
• High proficiency in use of Excel VBA, Access, Power Point; experience with Alteryx, Tableau, SAS or Python a plus
• Familiarity with global capital markets and the businesses and products TD Securities operates within
• Experience with accounting/controllership and ability to interpret financial reporting (income & balance sheet)
• Fundamental understanding of a banking institutions P&L, balance sheet, leverage and capital management
• Team player yet self-starter with strong organizational, problem-solving and time management skills
• Post-secondary degree in Business or Finance is expected
