ProHealth Physicians (OptumCare Co) has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Nurse to join our team in Farmington. Medication Renewal Specialists are part of a central team that reviews validates and processes medication renewals using the EHR and organization-wide clinical protocols that are built into Refill Manager, a structured application used to support medication management. Medication Renewal Specialists work as a team to support ProHealth practices, providers, staff and patients to ensure timely and accurate renewal of medications. This RN positiion provides support for Medication Management, Clinical Operations, Nursing Education, and Clinical Health and Safety.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position based out of the Farmington corporate office with work from home option.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review, validate and process medication renewals according to Renewal Categories
  • Process electronic medication renewal requests efficiently and accurately, and according to productivity standards.
  • Research patient medication records and clinical information in the EHR to support/validate renewal requests.
  • Communicate with patients, providers, clinical staff and pharmacy staff to facilitate prescription renewals.
  • For patients who are due or overdue for office visits, call patients to schedule visits with providers.
  • For patients who require lab work, create lab orders for provider authorization.
  • Resolve medication and authorization issues to ensure high-quality patient care and timely service.
  • Act as a delegate to providers to review the CT Prescription Monitoring and Reporting System (CPMRS) for all controlled substance renewals.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls related to medication questions, renewals requests and authorizations.
  • Actively engage in process improvement initiatives and support continuous improvement and program developments.
  • Report any system, protocol or patient issues to the Program Manager in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:
  • Professional education, graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Active unrestricted RN licensure in the State of Connecticut
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic medical records
  • Knowledge of prescription medications and medication categories
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance.
  • 2 years of clinical experience in a physician's office or hospital ambulatory care practice
  • Basic computer knowledge and aptitude

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Prior experience with Allscripts
  • 5 years of clinical experience in a physician's office or hospital ambulatory care practice
  • Experience working on electronic health records
