Job Profile Summary
The Distinguished Solution Train Engineer is responsible for being the orchestrator for a solution in a Platform or Journey including facilitating and coaching to support execution. The role is responsible for the overall plan for the Journey or Platform and make sure that the plan has the resources, capabilities and capacity to execute. This role will escalate impediments, manage risk, help ensure value delivery, and drive relentless improvement. Participates in transformation and coordination releases as needed.

Accountable for coaching Release Train Engineers (RTEs) in the new processes and mindsets required to achieve agility. Also responsible for setting the direction and overseeing the work of other Solution Train Engineers.

Recognized as the top agile and/or NEW expert within and outside the company and requires broad and comprehensive expertise in leading-edge theories or techniques in their own field
Oversees the ceremonies, backlogs releases of various agile team of teams to successfully release in a Program Increment which incorporate many releases across Product Groups.
Works with RTEs to drive continuous improvement across the practices/processes of the solution with an influence on industry best practices.
Ensures there is alignment between the Program Increment's business outcomes design and delivery
Addresses difficult obstacles within their Solution train thinking critically to resolve impediments, be it architectural, leadership or logistics.
Anticipates internal and external obstacles and business challenges, helping the team find solutions through process, product or service improvements. Helping to define best practices.
Resolves most unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business
Sets the direction and oversees the work of other Solution Train Engineers as assigned on complex, highly visible work commitments of significant profile, strategic importance, and enterprise impact to the Bank
Authoritative expert on Solution Train Engineering issues within area of specialization
Educates the enterprise and influences the practices and methodologies to provide business value
Accountable for successful Solution deployments of the assigned work commitments

Job Requirements

  • Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required in a related field such as information technology, computer science, Bus. Admin - Masters preferred
    Typically requires 10+ years of Agile experience
    7+ years of experience as a Coach, Prod Mgr, Scrum Master or Program Mgr.
    Certified SAFE Release Train Engineer (RTE) or SAFE Program Consultant (SPC), Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (ACSM) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
    7+ yrs. of related experience as an Agile coach involved in large-scale Agile transformations, coaching multiple agile teams, Agile Management Tools
    5+ Portfolio or Program Management Experience
    Expert knowledge of agile theory, methodology - including scaling -, techniques, rules, and practices, estimating/sizing, product management, planning, forecasting, conflict resolution, coaching / leverage models, capacity and capability building and facilitation
    Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
    Ability to establish goals and objectives that support the strategic plan and delivery execution for multiple and/or scaled teams
    Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the function and provide advice to the team and all levels of leadership
    Ability to support forecasting initiatives and demand in order to help develop annual strategic plan
    Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate committed work activities to ensure completion of product initiatives
    Skill in preparing and managing budgets and resource allocation
    Advanced skill in mentoring, coaching, listening, providing feedback and performance management
    Skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques
    Skill in using computer applications including MS Office and industry standard Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence
    Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form to all levels and types of stakeholders (i.e. business, technology, sponsors and control functions)
    Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions
    Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently
    Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
    Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
    Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
