IT Systems Asset Manager

Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking an IT Systems Asset Manager to support the Air Forces Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This is a long term sustainment and acquisition program which is anticipated to remain operational until 2075.

This position works with the Program Management office and government liaison personnel to manage and maintain a detailed inventory of customer's software and hardware assets and applying the information gathered in making the best decisions and recommendations concerning IT-related purchases and redistribution for the government.

The role also entails developing and maintaining processes, policies, standards, systems and measurements that help the organization to effectively manage the IT asset portfolio (software and technology-related hardware) both on a daily and long-term basis.

This position includes governance over IT Asset Management tools to manage, monitor, and report IT assets and inventory for the government. Familiarity with tools such as Confluence and Jira are highly encouraged and experience with DOD procurement activities preferred.

You will be responsible for managing and maintaining databases and records of information such as licenses, service agreements, and warranties for the organization's software and hardware. In addition, you will assist with compliance regarding vendor contracts by carrying out effective planning, monitoring and working with hardware assets and software licenses.

This is a customer facing role with strong relationship building responsibilities with the government customer as well as with equipment/software vendors and associated contractors. You will also be working in a technical project manager capacity working directly with technical personnel and on occasion with senior leadership to provide status updates.

Responsibilities include:
  • Perform daily and long-term operational and strategic management of hardware and software. Plan, monitor, and record hardware assets and/or software license to make sure they are complied with vendor contracts in different software tools.
  • Apply a continuous improvement approach in enhancing the strategies employed in technology spending, as well as in tracking assets within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ensure effective management of the CMDB and that the content contained is accurate. Define and enhance scheme for identifying hardware and software-related assets as well as CIs, including versioning and dependencies in the asset management tools, attributes, the Contract management library, and the CMDB.
  • Perform verification and audit CMDB content; verify software assets with license contracts, confirm hardware assets with actual inventory, and initiate corrective actions and track them. Manage inventory of CIs and assets, including dependencies and attributes, making sure that modifications, withdrawals, and additions of existing ones are correctly recorded by the teams in charge in the tools to ensure that the vendor contracts are complied with.
  • Responsible for collaborating with government agencies in managing lifecycle of hardware and software until their retirement. Generate and distribute various reports, including compliance reports on current assets and CIs and their status; also perform trend analyses.
  • Manage activities concerning license compliance audits to be able to answer requests from software editors effectively. Ensure process efficiency by implementing the key performance indicators; suggest improvements to the process continuously.
  • Design processes relating to software and hardware asset management, execute and enhance them. Establish and maintain documentation of procedures, processes, and reports concerning asset and configuration management.
  • Take part in other ITSM processes, or as required to perform as a back up to maintain operational activities. Create and execute governance and strategic asset management function.
  • Perform research on industry best practice and incorporate it with organizational practices. Maintain hardware and software maintenance database.

This position requires an active final Secret clearance upon hire date. The clearance "investigation close date" must be within the last 6 calendar years from the hire date. The applicant must also be able to maintain their security clearance for the position. An active Top Secret clearance is preferred.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (typically computer science, information technologies, etc.) and 7 yrs of progressive technical experience (education requirement may be waived for equivalent experience)
  • Experience developing external customer and vendor relationships and ability to communicate detailed software and contractual language and requirements with senior leaders
  • Effective organizational, time management, and communications skills (written and verbal)
  • This position requires an active final Secret clearance upon hire date. The clearance "investigation close date" must be within the last 6 calendar years from the hire date. The applicant must also be able to maintain their security clearance for the position.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience with Confluence and Jira tools
  • Experience with software and hardware inventory methodologies
  • Although a Secret clearance is required, a Top Secret clearance is preferred.
  • ​​​General understanding of computer networks, hardware, databases, applications, security components, computer operations, and operating system maintenance
  • Understanding of the DoD environment and familiarity with the DoD Acquisition System
  • The ability to mediate differing perspectives and develop consensus relating to cybersecurity principles and regulations; ability to build bridges across organizational boundaries, and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical leaders across large complex organizations
  • An individual with high integrity, strong work ethic and initiative, and capable of building strong, trusting relationships
