Scientist I, Medicinal Chemistry and PET Tracer Discovery

Job Description

About This Role

New drugs are discovered through creative design and pioneering synthetic chemistry. In this role, you will leverage your synthetic skills and knowledge of chemistry to design and synthesize new small molecules aimed to treat neurological and rare diseases. Additionally, this role will include the design of new PET tracers to enable portfolio programs, patient selection and alternative modalities. You will be expected to work in a team environment and to effectively communicate with co-workers from a variety of disciplines and scientific backgrounds. Note: this position does not involve direct radiochemistry, all chemistry will be performed on cold materials to enable externally performed radiochemistry.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive programs with your laboratory contributions, designing and synthesizing new analogs for small molecule drug discovery projects
  • Learn and apply the concepts of property-based drug design as applied to neuroscience small molecule drug discovery
  • Integrate data into iterative multivariate compound optimization
  • Collaborate across functions in program teams
  • Utilize structure and ligand-based drug design with cutting edge software
  • In addition to your role in Medicinal Chemistry, part of your time will be spent on PET tracer development
  • The opportunity to manage and external chemistry team is part of this role
