The Role at a Glance:

As an Insights Consultant, you will be responsible for working with internal business units to proactively recommend, develop and implement market research that provide relevant, timely and actionable information. You will design and manage B2B market research on financial professionals across all of Lincoln's business units, including Annuities, Life Insurance, Long-Term Care, Retirement Services, and our Broker-Dealer.

You will lead research initiatives focused on identifying business growth opportunities, supporting innovative product and service development, and go-to-market strategy and tactics. You will also analyze diverse industry data sets to provide a thorough quantitative understanding of the financial professional's needs and behaviors. When coupled with qualitative insights, you will translate research and analysis into actionable information and knowledge to impact the strategic direction of Lincoln's business units.

What you'll be doing:

Serve as a consultant in the prioritization, management, and execution of primary and secondary research projects. Responsible for high quality, timely and actionable analysis of data and communication of findings and recommendations to ensure a clear understanding of the market implications.

  • Develop and shape our Financial Professional insights practice and elevate insights throughout the organization.
  • Design and manage quantitative and qualitative research on Financial Professionals in support of Lincoln's various business units.
  • Support initiatives focused on business growth, innovation, and go-to-market strategy and tactics.
  • Analyze and synthesize industry data and primary research to provide a thorough understanding of the financial professional's needs and behaviors.
  • Transform data into compelling visuals to tell a story and support audience understanding of key research insights.
  • Present research findings and lead conversations with business stakeholders, including senior management, focusing on how insights can be used to inform strategy and drive action.


Influence & Execution:
  • Synthesize data, interpret findings, and communicate key learnings clearly and concisely to share insights with business stakeholders.
  • Develop presentations and deliver research findings to project teams and senior management.
  • Use your knowledge of financial professionals, competitors, and the marketplace to advise stakeholders on business issues.
  • Synthesize proprietary research findings and third-party data to develop recommendations for strategic action.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, designing and leveraging research to help answer key questions to support business goals and initiatives.


Collaboration:
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify research questions, and design and manage qualitative and quantitative research efforts to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders, collaborating with stakeholders throughout the process.
  • Oversee projects with external research vendors, acting as a liaison between Lincoln stakeholders and research vendors, ensuring timely delivery of project deliverables, and working collaboratively with research vendors and Lincoln stakeholders to identify meaningful insights and opportunities for strategic action.
  • Build relationships and meet regularly with stakeholders (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Strategy, Product, Operations, Innovation, Customer Experience and others) to maintain a strong understanding of the strategic challenges, and proactively shares relevant insights and trends.


Research Skills:
  • Explore multifaceted methodology options, leveraging qualitative and quantitative research, syndicated research, and secondary data to build actionable insights.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to provide an understanding of the financial professional's needs, attitudes, behaviors, financial service decision-making and product preferences.
  • Build expertise on various sources of internal/external information and data sources, especially pertaining to elements and characteristics relevant to the financial professional's attitudes, behavior, financial decision-making, and product preferences.


What we're looking for:

Must-haves:
  • 3-5+ years of experience in market research, financial services, workplace benefits, and/or marketing/communications.
  • Undergraduate degree (BA or BS), preferably with academic coursework or experience in qualitative or quantitative research experience of 5+ years.
  • Experience using online survey tools.
  • Agile testing experience preferred (e.g. usability testing, test and learn, iterative testing, etc.).
  • Proficient with Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Intellectual Horsepower, Business Acumen, Dealing with Ambiguity, Creativity, Problem Solving, Decision Quality, Planning, Process Management.

Nice-to-haves:
  • Specific survey tool experience with Qualtrics
  • Experience using tools like SPSS, SAS, R, or Tableau for data analysis
  • Insurance or Finance industry experience
