About This Role

The US BBU team is looking for a Director of Business & Portfolio Management to 1) collaborate with a cross-functional team on the development of pricing and contracting strategies for the biosimilars portfolio and 2) provide oversight & partnership, monitoring, and coordination of appropriate contract implementation/pull-through to ensure appropriate patient access and customer coordination. This individual will also work with US BBU Finance to ensure revenue and profitability goals for the US BBU franchise are met. The Director of Business & Portfolio Management, US BBU will collaborate with a cross-functional team including Pricing & Contracting, Analytics, Finance and select field-based individuals to support pricing and contracting support throughout the biosimilar product lifecycle. As Biogen’s biosimilars portfolio grows, the Director of Business & Portfolio Management, US BBU will be responsible for not only ensuring the franchise is achieving access priorities, revenue and profitability goals for individual biosimilar products, but also the US BBU franchise at large. The candidate will report to the Head of Franchise Strategy, US BBU.

What You’ll Do
  • In partnership with franchise leadership, ensure appropriate oversight, coordination, and monitoring on access, revenue, and profitability goal(s) for product(s) and the portfolio at large (year on year)
  • Effectively lead in close collaboration with Pricing & Contracting and Finance the development of launch pricing and contracting strategies for the US biosimilars portfolio that enable the US BBU to achieve product revenue and profitability goal(s); after product launch, evaluate and partner with cross-functional partners to make appropriate recommendations for access strategy adjustments with prioritized channels and customers throughout the biosimilar product lifecycle to ensure the franchise is continuously achieving its overall portfolio revenue and profitability goals

  • Communicate contracting and access strategy changes with the Head of the US BBU Sales and relevant field team leadership while focusing on pull-through deliverables and performance
  • Track and monitor key revenue cycle performance indicators, report findings to appropriate leadership and stakeholders
  • Identify innovative (and potentially automated) ideas to develop efficient internal operations to prioritize customer requests, evaluate requests, and communicate the decision in a timely manner, enabling improved performance and best-in-class customer service; establish KPIs for measuring and monitoring customer responsiveness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to identify critical customer issues, growth opportunities, and innovative strategies to optimize customer engagement and revenue generation
  • Evaluate large and emerging customer opportunities (including private equity, large group clinic owners and relevant therapeutic stakeholders) and develop business cases supporting a go/no-go decision
  • Partner to ensure the establishment of pricing and contracting governance approval process and operations
  • Help build a team focused on performance while also creating an environment focused on people development and culture


Qualifications

Who You Are

You are an innovative, analytical, collaborative leader who enjoys working with a cross-functional team to glean insights from data to develop strategic recommendations around pricing and contracting approaches that have a high impact on the revenue and profitability of the business. You have significant expertise in pricing and contracting within the buy and bill space. You are organized, a good communicator, and able to develop a compelling business case to influence critical strategic business decisions.

Required Skills
  • 10+ years of industry experience in related positions with proven performance in analytically-driven positions with a focus on developing winning strategies for product access and achieving financial outcomes
  • Demonstrated understanding of buy & bill dynamics (particularly in the Medicare space), formulary management and the growing areas of specialty management inclusive of biosimilars
  • Deep understanding of pricing, contracting and ASP dynamics; ability to leverage this knowledge/experience to deliver positive financial outcomes
  • Proven ability to operate within a complex matrix environment and excellent cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Prior experience interfacing with and communicating to internal executive staff and field-based leaders managing customers
  • Demonstrated understanding of healthcare (clinic and corporate owners) and experience negotiating, leading and communicating complex strategic business issues
  • Ability to create and manage a strategic vision, develop new processes, and lead process improvement within the organization

Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or health policy or related field equivalent experience required; MBA or comparable master’s degree preferred
  • P&L management knowledge preferred prior experiences in a finance discipline is a plus

Biogen’s US Alzheimer’s Franchise is looking to recruit proven and ambitious sales achievers with at least five years of experience in pharma, specialty, hospital, med device/capital equipment, and/or biotech sales.
In this field-based, specialty sales representative position you will be called upon to sell our products with key stakeholders in the Alzheimer’s Disease community: including Neurologists and allied health professionals.
